Yup, that was the article.

America was built by criminal rebels, the difference was the Confederates lost.... I think its more wierd that they want to celebrate the losers of the war so much tham the rebel part.

What rally cracks me up is the flag everybody is bitching about was originally a battle flag designed with inclusion in mind. They picked a design they felt would be less likely to offend different groups of people.

kargan, do you really think that flag is a symbol of inclusion today??

I've been a racing fan since I was 5 years old and saw my first NASCAR race at the Langhorne Speedway in 1949. The only flags I give a shit about at the races is the US flag and the flags used by the starter.

NASCAR at one time was for the most part southern drivers and crews. Those days are long gone. The last 19 championship drivers were from all over the country. Calif. Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Connecticut, New Jersey. Pit crews are athletes in their own right. More and more black pit crew members. Crew Chiefs have some from Canada, Australia, etc.

Bubba Wallace is currently the only black driver. He drives for the undisputed King of NASCAR Richard Petty. The team is underfunded at this time as sponsorship and money is the measure of team success. Still Wallace isn't doing that bad all things considered.

What really cracked me up about the south when Jim Crowe was still the law of the land down there was they wouldn't let black people sit in white restaurants yet if you got a peek into any of the kitchens, the food was prepared by mostly black cooks.

I just dont get it.... Has to be the.most boring sport out there. Don't get me wrong I like those derby races, like where they track is unique, driving on dirt, through woods and waterfalls ( well that would be cool.atleast) but going around in a loop....golf is more.exciting.

Golf- So its one od the few.sports where hot girls drive up to you to sell.ypu beer while you play... Thats the gist of it.

Bowling- Im personally astonished at how bowling alleys make money, that is a lot of real estate they take up. I assume they sell drugs to keep the lights on.

Fishing- Personally I love fishing, camping ,hiking etc. Its different everytime , I enjoy the act of doing it, not so much watching others.

Ignore kargen, he is a senile old MAGA fan.

"What rally cracks me up is the flag everybody is bitching about was originally a battle flag designed with inclusion in mind. They picked a design they felt would be less likely to offend different groups of people. "

This is also completely incorrect. What is known today as the confederate flag was their battle flag. It had nothing to do with inclusion. Tell your racist uncle that he is wrong.

Inclusion of who? Certainly not anyone north of the Mason Dixon line. Nor their slaves.

Lol rednecks flew a giant confederate flag from a plane. Rednecks are hilarious.

To be more accurate, the battle flag was made to be easily distinguishable from the US flag, since the confederate flag was too similar and commanders had trouble telling the difference from a distance. The multitude of confed state flags also made it difficult, so they made the battle flag(stars and bars), making it easy for their commanders to know where the troops were.

Again, nothing to do with inclusion, which is probably the stupidest thing ever said, other than when it was proposed that complaining on the internet was the same as protesting, so no one needed to protest anymore.

"Do you think there is anything new or ironic about coopting symbols and giving them different meanings?"

That has been going on since before we started keeping track so no it isn't new. In fact it is fairly common for symbols and even words to evolve over time.

"Again, nothing to do with inclusion, which is probably the stupidest thing ever said,"

Look into why the bars ran diagonal across the flag instead of top to bottom and side to side. While doing that look into other concessions made with the flag.
And yeah I know they were not thinking of the slaves other than how to keep them down as some wanted a white field to represent white superiority but that was nixed as it was thought it could be mistaken as a flag of surrender if not fully flown. My point still stands, the design that was ultimately selected was done so in an attempt to include a diverse group of people.

The diagonal cross was preferable, he wrote, because "it avoided the religious objection about the cross (from the Jews and many Protestant sects), because it did not stand out so conspicuously as if the cross had been placed upright thus."
"

is this what you are referring to as you won't just say it yourself?

i have no idea what point you are shooting for about finding it funny some people object to that flag

Yep and the NFL should follow NASCAR and stop allowing athletes to kneel. NASCAR said they made their decision because the flag was offensive to some people that attend NASCAR events. Kneeling is offensive to some people that attend NFL games so using that same logic the NFL needs to put a stop to it.

Y2A, I'm not too awful surprised at NASCAR's stance. They and their race teams rely almost entirely on Corporate Sponsorship. When the Klan and Skin heads make up 12% of the population they might make their consumption something to be worried about. Until then, the money is on not offending the consumer.

"NFL should follow NASCAR and stop allowing athletes to kneel"

NFL did follow NASCAR. They just happened to follow it in opposing retards and racists, by now endorsing kneeling.

Also, anyone who originally believed and still believe that kneeling was/is disrespectful to the military is pure-(in)bred stupid.

Nah Hood that is signalling hate and division. We are applauding NASCAR for prohibiting s symbol because it upset some people.
Kneeling is a symbol that upsets some people and the NFL needs to put an end to it.
Doesn't matter if the people kneeling mean to be disrespectful or not. That some perceive it that way is justification enough to end kneeling. Just ask all the fine folk that are ripping down statues.

49' champ Red Byron
50's my favorite driver was Fonty Flock, his brother Tim was pretty good Junior Johnson Lee Petty, Hershal McGriff
60's Richard Petty, Fireball Roberts, Ned Jarrett, Bobby Alison,
70's Cale Yarborough, David Pearson,
many more that I've missed over the years.

Is there like one big company for that like Nascar, or how would I look that up under?

Rally Cross racing is the subject I think you are looking for.
Also check with: http://scsportscar.com/
Lot's of club racing, running against a clock etc
http://scsportscar.com/rallycross/

Also check for local dirt tracks and see what they have for classes of cars. Most nowadays have what they call street stocks. Very little modifications allowed.

Habebe, of course you can always spend a lot more money than you anticipate. Go to a few events, check out which car brands or models are doing the best. Then go scour the junkyards. Might as well get a Pickup truck and a trailer to haul your toy around. You might see what kind of tires they are using and what they cost. That is one of the larger expenses of racing.
You can always do what I did and meet some of the racers in your area and ask if you can help them in their home garage and in the pits. Lot's of fun if you can't afford a car.

Yep, rally cross that's it.

I domt habe the time ATM, to tinker on that. I do however have a pickup and an old Suburban (454) that could tow the toy if needed. I also have a 34 ft Haulmark enclosed trailer designed for hauling 2 cars at once, but I have it packed full of random shit that I have to get rid of first.

But finally getting back on my Amphetamines, hopefully tomorrow so, who knows.

So Sam I suppose he hired the plane that flew the Rebel flag over the track. Hired the Klan to parade around outside the track.

Kargan, Midget cars are really great to watch on 1/4 mile dirt tracks. Probably the fastest cars on short dirt tracks. Today's Midgets are putting out crazy horse power, 300-400 hp and weigh around 800 lb.

Then there are TQ midgets that weigh 800 lb With the driver in them. They are powered by inline motorcycle Suzuki engines. Super fast on small bull ring asphalt tracks. One of my best friend's grandson has a few ATQMRA championships driving them Ryan Tidman.

The Klan is for hire? Could you imagine ad a kid instead of a magician your patents accidently hiring a grand wizard?! Tell me that wouldnt make for a hilarious sketch.

That said flying the flag had nothing to do with Bubba.

Like it or not Bubba seems to have had the mantle shoved on him. The guy is 26 and like all NASCAR drivers is under a tremendous amount of pressure. They not only have to perform on the race track but are called on to show up at their sponsors events and plug the products.
With the astronomical costs involved it is a constant campaign of being not only a PR person but training to compete on the track. Now this 26 year old has this thrown on top of being the only black driver currently with a ride at the top tier of NASCAR. Talk about living under a microscope.
Hell when I was 26, all I had to do was show up for work, do my thing and go find another party or fun thing to do. I hope he has the strength to hold up with so many people wanting a piece of him.

Will the unfortunate individual who placed an innocent overhead door pull be banned for life from NASCAR?

The systemic racism within the NASCAR organization seems to be non-existent.

Apparently the door pull was tied, in some reports, in the manner of a noose.

Hopefully they can keep the rabble from creating more incidents. It takes away from the sport.
