British Columbia CDC issues Sex&Covid19 guide where it recommends to use glory hours

"Choose sexual positions that limit face-to-face contact.

Use barriers, like walls (e.g., glory holes), that allow for sexual contact but prevent close face-to-face contact.

Using condoms, lubricant, and dental dams may help to further reduce the risk by minimizing contact with saliva, semen and feces during sex."

Trump's death panels. Coming to your state soon?

Trump has handled the virus outbreak so bad that the Republican state Texas has now set up DEATH PANELS to decide who should live and who should die.

Texas hospital forced to set up 'death panel' as Covid-19 cases surge

A surge in coronavirus cases in rural Texas has forced one hospital to set up “death panels” to decide which patients it can save and which ones will be sent home to die.

WASHINGTON — Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain died after a battle with COVID-19, according to posts on his Twitter account and on his website.

"Herman Cain – our boss, our friend, like a father to so many of us – has passed away," wrote Dan Calabrese, the editor of Cain's website.

"Herman was 74. Although he was basically pretty healthy in recent years, he was still in a high-risk group because of his history with cancer," he continued.

The former Godfather's Pizza CEO, who also served as the co-chair of Black Voices for Trump, was hospitalized at the beginning of July after developing coronavirus symptoms.

He attended President Donald Trump's controversial rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the end of June, but he did not wear a mask. He posted a picture of himself and other attendees in close proximity and without wearing any masks.

Local health officials had called for the event's cancellation out of fears it could become a "super-spreader" event, and the head of the Tulsa Health Department later acknowledged the rally and surrounding protests had likely contributed to a surge in cases in Tulsa.

Several Trump campaign staffers and Secret Services employees tested positive for COVID-19 before the rally and self-quarantined.

As recently as Monday, an update on Cain's website said he was still being treated with oxygen, but his organs were "strong."

"He really is getting better, which means it is working," the post said.

Former Cain aide Ellen Carmichael, who had served as the communications director for Cain's campaign, tweeted her condolences.

In a post on Twitter, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Cain "embodied the American Dream and represented the very best of the American spirit."

"Our hearts grieve for his loved ones, and they will remain in our prayers at this time. We will never forget his legacy of grace, patriotism, and faith," she wrote.

Putin got a covid vaccine!

Russia has developed the first vaccine offering "sustainable immunity" against the coronavirus, President Vladimir Putin announced Tuesday.

"This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered" in Russia, he said during a televised video conference call with government ministers.

Moscow has dubbed its new coronavirus vaccine "Sputnik V" after the Soviet satellite, the head of the country's sovereign wealth fund said Tuesday, after Russia declared itself the first country to develop a vaccine.

Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund which finances the vaccine project, said Phase 3 trials would start on Wednesday, industrial production was expected from September and that 20 countries had pre-ordered more than a billion doses.

“The point is not to be first with a vaccine”, said U.S. Health Secretary Alex Azar on ABC News’ “Good Morning America” programme.

Covid-19 death toll rivals fatality rate during 1918 flu epidemic, researchers say

August 13, 2020

The increase in deaths in New York City during the early months of the covid-19 pandemic rivals the death toll there at the peak of the 1918 flu pandemic, according to an analysis published Thursday.

The comparison, published online in the medical journal JAMA Network Open, found that the number of deaths from all causes was roughly equal during the two peak months of the flu epidemic and the first 61 days of the current outbreak.

The H1N1 flu pandemic eventually killed 50 million people a century ago, about 675,000 of them in the United States. The current pandemic has claimed at least 746,000 lives worldwide, about 162,000 of them in the United States, according to a tally kept by The Washington Post.

“For anyone who doesn’t understand the magnitude of what we’re living through, this pandemic is comparable in its effect on mortality to what everyone agrees is the previous worst pandemic,” said Jeremy S. Faust, an emergency physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston who led the team that conducted the data review.

(The AIDS epidemic has killed more than 700,000 people in the United States since it began in 1981.)

There were 31,589 deaths from all causes in New York during the peak period of the flu epidemic, about the same as the 33,465 tallied in the 61 days after the first death on March 11 of this year, the analysis shows.

New York in 1918 had a population of 5.5 million people, so the death rate of 287 per 100,000 person-months was greater than the 202 of the current covid-19 pandemic. Person-months is a way of measuring the number of deaths in a population during a specific period of time.

But the current outbreak has seen a more dramatic rise in “excess deaths” — the number of fatalities above what would be expected in a normal year. With better medical care, public health, hygiene and medicines such as antibiotics, New York typically has about half the death rate of a century earlier — about 50 per person-month instead of 100. So the current outbreak has quadrupled the death rate, while the flu pandemic nearly tripled it.

“Because baseline mortality rates from 2017 to 2019 were less than half that observed from 1914 to 1917 . . . the relative increase during early covid-19 period was substantially greater than during the peak of the 1918 H1N1 influenza pandemic,” the authors wrote.

The Post has reported that the United States recorded about 37,100 excess deaths in March and the first two weeks of April, nearly 13,500 more than were attributed to covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, during that time. The report was based on an analysis of federal data conducted for The Post by a research team led by the Yale School of Public Health.

The Post later reported that many of the excess deaths in New York City and five hard-hit states in March, April and May could be attributed to heart problems and a handful of other diseases.

That analysis, which also used the model developed by the Yale research team, suggested that many patients suffering from serious conditions died as a result of delaying or not seeking care as the outbreak progressed and swamped some hospitals.

Germany going down!

http://www.dw.com/en/germany-pascha-brothel/a-54801694

Germany's 'Pascha' brothel goes bust amid coronavirus crisis

One of Europe's biggest brothels has gone broke amid the coronavirus pandemic, media report. It is one of many German companies headed for bankruptcy as a result of the crisis, experts say.

The brothel "Pascha," a major landmark in the western German city of Cologne, has filed for bankruptcy, a German daily reported on Thursday.

"We are at an end," the brothels's director, Armin Lobscheid, told local paper Express.

The paper cited Lobscheid as saying that the brothel had used up all its financial reserves during the ban on prostitution imposed during the ongoing pandemic. The brothel operates from an 11-story building and has around 60 staff, including masseurs and cooks.

Normally, some 120 prostitutes also work there on a freelance basis, the paper reported. However, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where Cologne is situated, banned prostitution five months ago in one of several measures taken in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Unclear predictions

Lobscheid criticized authorities in the state for not being clear in their forecasts as to when the restrictions would end.

"We can't plan like this. We might have been able to fend off the bankruptcy with the help of banks if we had been assured that things can start up again at the beginning of next year," the paper quoted him as saying. He added that everyone knew that paid sex services were continuing despite the ban, but anonymously and without any taxes being paid.

Organizations representing sex workers have warned that the closure of brothels is likely to force prostitution underground, exposing women to greater risks of exploitation.

The news of "Pascha"'s insolvency comes as one of Germany's leading credit bureaus, Creditreform, warned of a big rise in bankruptcy filings in Germany triggered by fallout from the pandemic.

"From the fourth quarter on, there will be a considerable rise in applications," CEO Volker Ulbricht said on Wednesday. He said companies in the field of culture, sport and recreation were under particularly strong pressure, above all smaller businesses. This was shown by worsening payment histories at present, he said.

His predictions come as Germany faces what may be the worst recession of the post-war era.

54 Corona infections after party night in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Because the number of corona infections in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has exceeded a critical mark, safety measures have been increased. Most of them were infected in the nightlife. Partygoers should get tested.

With 54 people in Garmisch-Partenkirchen testing positive, the market has now exceeded the critical mark. According to initial information, a holidaymaker from the USA was on her way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen's nightlife on Tuesday evening. According to Stephan Scharf, spokesman for the district administration office, she was highly infectious at the time.

The chain of infection was extremely difficult to trace because the woman was at several locations in the town. In her accommodation alone, which belongs to the American armed forces, 33 other people tested positive for corona. In addition, she and other infected persons had been in contact with numerous other people several times - around the last weekend and last Tuesday, presumably in a cocktail bar on Marienplatz and in an Irish pub on Rathausplatz.

District Office: contact tracing difficult

The employees of the Health Department are working flat out to clear up the chains of infection - but according to Stephan Scharf, spokesman for the District Administrator's Office, it is extremely difficult to determine with whom the infected American woman had contact.

It cannot be ruled out that other people have become infected. Persons who were on the road in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Tuesday evening are urgently requested to go to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Health Office to be tested voluntarily for Covid 19. Free coronate tests are possible, after prior registration, throughout the weekend in the test center at the Alpspitz wave pool.

Restaurants in Garmisch have to close at 10 pm

Since the critical threshold of the market community was exceeded with 54 infected persons, consequences are now being drawn: With immediate effect, the District Office has issued a partial restriction for the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market: all restaurants and bars must close at 10 pm for the next six days.

Dr. Anthony Fauci has said he feels "depressed" when he looks at data on the number of new coronavirus cases reported in the U.S. each day.

"I keep looking at that curve [of reported cases], and I get more depressed and more depressed about the fact that we never really get down to the baseline that I'd like," the White House coronavirus task force member and a top infectious disease expert said during a Harvard Medical School Grand Rounds session.

Fauci said the U.S. is the "worst hit country in the world" and has not been successful in containing its outbreak. According to Johns Hopkins University, the U.S. has reported over 6.3 million coronavirus cases and over 191,000 deaths.

On current trends you'll overtake us around then.

You can see the cumulative deaths per million charts the FT produces.

The UK levelled off ages ago after a disastrous start - as you'd expect for a small, densely populated highly connected population.

The US though, is just been growing linearly relentlessly as you failed to get a grip.

Your tweeter didn't understand genetics well enough.

The fact there is no clear genetic basis for race doesn't mean that hereditary genetic features can't be correlated by race.

I.e. the fact that sycle cell anemia is more common in certain African populations isn't the same thing as saying you have to be African to have the relevant gene, of that having the gene makes you part of that group.

I suspect you also don't really understand this point, or you wouldn't be requesting it with mine.

Enjoy the October surprise! You are going at around 2 deaths per million per day more than the UK. 30 days and you'll probably overtake us. Doing a good, good job there. Just great.

Underreporting remains an issue outside of the richer states:
"Is India missing COVID-19 deaths?"
[The Lancet; September 05, 2020]
• "Rijo John, public health policy analyst and senior fellow at the Centre for Public Policy Research in Kerala, said some under-reporting is happening. He told The Lancet that “while it is true that only 21% of all deaths are medically certified in India, we should not forget that more than 65% of the total COVID-19 deaths reported in India so far are from just four states, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Delhi. In all these states, the death registration is 100%.”"

• "Public pressure and media reports about alleged undercounting have begun to push many states to review their COVID-19 mortality data. “In several states, many of the ‘missing’ deaths were added later on to the tally after audits. For example, Tamil Nadu has added backlogs of 400-plus deaths. So did Maharashtra. West Bengal used to exclude all deaths due to comorbidities from COVID deaths, but they stopped such practices”, John said."

Sam:

Thank you for demonstrating you never understood what was being said.

1. There's no genetic basis for race - you can't identify a set of genetic tests using chromosomal DNA that will determine someones race.

2 therefore the fact something has a genetic basis doesn't mean it's automatically got a racial basis. So if intelligence is hereditary, it doesn't immediately follow race is a good predictor of intelligence, because race is also hereditary. A falacy you often assert.

3. But because race is, to a large degree, hereditary and genes are inherited, there *can* be a correlation of genes to race. E.g. sycle cell anaemia, particularly single gene mutations.

4. Intelligence hasn't got a simple genetic basis, it's affected by hundreds of different genes and their expression.

So no Sam, the fact you can say sycle cell anaemia is correlated with a racial group does not mean you can say certain races are smarter than others.

Missing 16,000 coronavirus tests glitch 'caused by large Excel spreadsheet file'

Mon, 5 October 2020,

Almost 16,000 cases of coronavirus in the UK went unreported because of a glitch caused by an Excel spreadsheet, it has been reported.

Public Health England (PHE) said 15,841 daily COVID-19 cases between 25 September and 2 October had been left out of UK totals.

The error has caused delays in tracking the contacts of people who tested positive.

On Monday, the Press Association (PA) news agency reported that the problem was caused by a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet reaching its maximum file size.

This prevented new names being added in an automated process, it said.

PA said files have now been split into smaller batches to prevent the error from happening again.

Dakyron:

It's actually Serco (outsourcing company) and it's not really a spreadsheet. It's a CSV file that's now got too big for the default upload limit that some private sector IT goon didn't configure properly.

Sam:

This has been explained before. I've already proved you didn't understand it before.

By definition the child of an Asian patent is Asian. Why isn't the son of a Jewish man a Jew?

Ok seb, why does the child of asian parents look asian? Why does the child of a black person also have black skin?

AI cameras introduced in London to monitor social distancing and lockdown restrictions

Vivacity Labs has more than 1,000 sensors in cities including London and Manchester

Artificial Intelligence cameras are being used in London and other cities in the UK to monitor social distancing.

The sensors were initially developed by Vivacity to track the flow of traffic, cyclists and pedestrians and monitor how roads are being used.

But when the country went into lockdown in March, Vivacity added on an extra feature to the AI scanners so it could register the distance between pedestrians. This data is shared in a monthly report with the Government.

Vivacity Labs said they have more than 1,000 sensors installed across the UK, in cities including London, Manchester, Oxford, Cambridge and Nottingham.

Chief Operating Officer at Vivacity Peter Mildon told BBC Radio Kent on Wednesday that the data is potentially "useful for informing policy decisions" regarding lockdown measures.

He stressed that the cameras are not CCTV but that they operate as a data collating device rather than a camera that stores footage.

"They are not recording any footage, they are not streaming any footage and no one is actually watching it," he said.

"We've trained an algorithm to be able to recognise what a pedestrian looks like as opposed to a cyclist or a van or truck."

The Chief Operating Officer of Vivacity said the manufacturers introduced a new social distancing feature for the sensors in March.

"'They are not recording any footage, they are not streaming any footage and no one is actually watching it,' he said."

Assuming that's accurate, these are basically like traffic density sensors. And we have those all over the US.

Because the state has far clearer checks and balances on what it can and can't do with that data; and has to tell you what it does, disclose what it knows, and if it starts to do things society objects to, can be pressured not to fairly quickly. whereas Facebook can do what it likes in secret, you won't even know what they know, and who they sold it to our for what purpose.

E.g. ring sells the footage of its door bell cams to US law enforcement agencies.
And it's based in Ukraine.

The CIA has a built in backdoor to those cameras/sensors though. Because they need to get better at face recognition AI and they want to keep track of people.

Sam:

Those features are controlled by a few genes.

Aboriginals are black. Africans are black. They are not the same race.
There are Southern Europeans that look very middle Eastern.
Someone with three European grand parents and one Asian may look Asian but share more of her genes with Europeans.

If race boils down to just a few genes that precisely define a few narrow phenotypes, all that shows is you admit that race is literally skin deep.

Genes are inhereted and race is defined as inhereted does not mean every characteristic that is has a genetic basis must be correlated with race.
It also doesn't mean peoples entire genome are well correlated with race, internal variability matters more. Which is obvious as at one point humanity was reduced to about 1500 individuals who were not a mix of races. Theb genes that differentiate races are a narrow subset of the genome.

Your entire thesis is that race is a broad predictor for all sorts of inhereted characteristics. The fact that skin colour is inhereted is a crap example of this.

You said no genes could be tied to race. Thanks for admitting you were wrong. Now we have established the facts: some genes are indeed tied to race. Thanks for playing.

No, I didn't say "no genes can be tied to race". That's you crap misunderstanding of what I said.

This is the problem with taking an excessively reductionist approach to genetics.
