Well, just about every day now we get an update. China has been flexing in the area militarily. The US has sent a show of force to deter it, but who knows with XI he knows China's world Image is shot to help ATM so what does he have to lose?

Japan and SK are likley worried that HK was the Sudeten land and Had an is Poland.

Japan has been beefing up ots military steadily, but likley not at the pace of China.

Austria. Taiwan would be the Austria in your analogy.

The main difference is that in this case, everyone agrees that there is only one China. At least up until 1992.

Austria willingly joined Germany and had an Austrian leader. Bad analogy.

But yes, good job deciphering my gibberish. "Had" is Taiwan, not sure how lol.

Austria is recognized as the first victim of Nazi German aggression. Lets just leave it as that without dissecting your alt-history perspective.

(Reuters) - China is stepping up military preparedness to overtake Taiwan, the island's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said on Wednesday, following a recent spike of Chinese drills near the island which Beijing considers its own.

Btw, why can't you post more than one link per post? Every time only one will link.

Japanese wants closer military ties.

____

Taiwan’s defense is Japan’s defense. Look at a map and it’s hard to think otherwise. And Beijing would agree.

The People’s Republic of China (PRC) has said it will take Taiwan ― by force, if necessary. Take Beijing at its word. But that doesn’t mean it will succeed. Not if the price is too high — and the certainty of American and Japanese military involvement on Taiwan’s behalf puts things into the “too expensive” category.

SK should be involved as well, at least with support.

Taiwan is a massive fortress. Heavily defended, covered in mountains and surrounded by water. The few beaches Taiwan has have little strategic importance. An amphibious assault would result in massive losses for the PRC even without aid from the U.S. It's a logistic nightmare.

China isnt invading Taiwan anytime soon, not outside a WWIII scenario. They cant even handle Hong Kong.

I dont know, if they thought it was politically feasible, I think China would be OK with losing ~50K soldiers taking Taiwan.

I mean, they have more.

This is only if China decides the US/Japan don't offer anything other than "strong condemnation" and such nonsense. Obviously, if the US joins the fight, then things change dramatically.

Considering Russia annexed Crimea with barely a wimper, China could realistically think that it could invade Taiwan now, with the US fighting COVID.

Of course, that would virtually guarantee a Trump 2nd term, so there is that.

Now, China would probably be more likely to annex land no one in the west really gives a shit about, like that strip of land in Kashmir, or some islands off the coast of Vietnam or something like that.

You know, as a test run.

LoL. No. People see Trump as the cause of chaos and not the solution to it. Also nobody gives a shit about Taiwan.

Biden comes off as nothing. Nobody thinks anything about Biden other than that he was Obama's VP. Trump will lose because of Trump, not because of any issues. Most of America hates his ignorant, lazy ass.

Biden would be a weak candidate if the Republicans were running a Reagan but they're not. It's Trump.
