What can slow down counting mail in ballots is signatures need to be checked against the signature on file. Each party can have a representative in the room during counting and they can contest a signature or other things. Think back to the hanging chad mess.I hope it doesn't happen but I kind of expect both sides to have people aggressively contesting signatures. The signature is on the envelope and that is what is checked against the one on file. Without needing to check signatures it would still take time to open each envelope unfold the ballot and run it through the machine to be tallied. If this election is as close as most people think we will not know the results election night.
