Chinese electronics company Xiaomi unveils its see-through TV at a services trade fair in Beijing, which displays images that appear to be "floating in the air"

Soon the Chinese will be able to make a Cloak of Invisibility.

china does real innovation and improvement. in b4 "china stole it from us, they travelled 2 da future, stole it from us, and travelled back in time"...

meanwhile usa is about dreamin and fantasizin about hypahypaloopiezzzzz

they even build a frikin tunnel...lol 1miles long, and collectin rust 4 several years now. not one single breakthrough. only thing thats changed is cgi graphics in cgi trailers promisin grand travel thats also cheaper, faster, efficient, green, and vibiranumzzzz, motherfuckers.

Improvements on display tech will eventually put smartphone-quality tech on our wrists. This particular display may be mostly pointless, but it's a step in the right direction towards legit cool applications.

I can imagine it will be possible to put this tech on eye-glasses and eye-lenses.

Maybe they will even make see-through clothes and then you can choose a digital skin that you want. For an example, the can make a furry skin, so you can walk around and look like Chewbacca.

Maybe it will even be possible that your clothing will have a camera that can analyze your surrounding and create a camouflage for you. For an example, if you are walking around as Chewbacca, and then wants to hide, you will be able to stand against a wall, and your clothes will then change so you blend in to the background.

i see they managed to film it as stupidly as possible making it seem like no image if seen from the back... but -i think- image is on both sides, butterfly seems to show up just as going back to front

"I can imagine it will be possible to put this tech on eye-glasses and eye-lenses."

I think Google did something like this. total flop.

Yes but maybe the tech wasn’t good enough when Google did it.

The cost is $7,200 and it is only going to be released in China.
The answer to your question is the well off in China are gullible and will buy anything no matter how worthless.

Oh and LG has been selling them as signs and displays for malls and large retail shops.

LG is also selling screens that are being placed on windows of subways in China.

You need to go back a little farther than that. Kodak Eastman built the first practical OLED device back in 1987. The idea was first kicked around in the 1950s probably starting in France. The ability to have a transparent screen came a few years later when Cambridge University (you can be proud of your home country) developed a thinner screen.
Really the only difference in a transparent screen and any other OLED screen is the stuff that makes it work is below rather than behind it.
So China's big engineering milestone is something that was developed about fifty years ago.

kodak is a shit company, the fuck u talkin about 1987. lmao 1950.

why dunt u say 1850 then, this is how delusional u have become. ur now claimin they made invisible tvs in 1987 or what.

who gives a fuck what they made in 1987, was it invisible tv or not. all else is irrelevant.

Didn't say anything about invisible televisions. I gave you a brief history of the OLED screen. All the transparent screen you are fawning over is an OLED screen without a black backing and the electronics underneath instead of behind.

And that tv you are talking about is not invisible. You can obviously see the base and the screen is only transparent. There is a difference in transparent and invisible.

The screen has been available for a long long time. The only reason someone didn't mount it so you could see through it was because there was no practical application.

ooooohhhh its just an oled.
then how come this shit company u named kodak, dunt have it in 2020....when by ur own claims they invented it.

Kodak sold its OLED business unit to LG in 2009 and began working with digital printing. They are heavily invested in flexography printing. They are also working in the area of micro 3D printing.

I didn't claim they invented it. I claimed they created the first practical device.

Yeah China is dominate because they continue to break out fifty year old technology as something great and wonderful.
Won't be long before they introduce slot cars.
