The Democrats agreed to the demands. Then Trump was elected and was allowed to nominate a judge. So now a judge died when Trump is president and there is only like 6-7 weeks(?) to the election, and the Republicans are demanding that a new judge is appointed BEFORE the election.

One perk of having a majority in the Senate is that the Majority leader ( Mitch McConnell) has tge authority to bring appointments to the floor to vote or in that case refuse to bring the appointment to the floor. The Senate was the key.

He has a majority in the Senate and doesnt need the 60 supermajority. I should point out that in 2017 the Republicans added SC judges to the Obama rule.

McConnell had put up a Filibuster road block that wasn't coming down as long as Obama was in office. I guess that's ok as long as you don't mind a back log in cases. McConnell has effectively taken over the Court system of this country. Hope we can afford to pay the price.
