"The extra internal space is a big deal, as you'll be able to add extra storage, of excellent speeds that'll be plugged directly into the motherboard of the PS5 rather than relying on an external, limited-by-USB unit."

Idiot.

Sony has a more advanced system, more in depth games etc.

But Nintendo has a different approach, to go after a mostly different segment of gamer, more casual and more nostalgic gamers.

So for that reason I'd say 90% is a huge exaggeration.

Then we have Google jumping un the race, so far its been terrible. But it had a lot of potential.

Xbox sucks, never been a fan. It helps boost Microsoft sales I guess. I've always preffered the PC release of any MS game to the Xbox release. What was that game where you can decide to be good or evil at each step? I remember loving the first one, never played its sequels.

You would think TC would like MS. They are a better version of China. They take someone else's idea(s) and great palatable but slightly different versions of the product.

The battle lines for the future of gaming have been drawn crystal clear. It's going to be cloud-based, and Sony has a lot of catching up to do there (but for now, they are my console of choice).

Microsoft, Amazon, Google, PS, and a bunch of upstarts are pouring money into cloud-based gaming where a server does the rendering and delivers it to your terminal (be it a pc/phone, or whatever).

I've tried them all and they all suck. Lag makes multiplayer impossible, and, for single player, as soon as it buffers or switches bitrate the immersion is ruined completely.

I live in one of the top 5 tech hubs in the world and have gigabit internet up/down with sub 50ms pings. If it doesn't work here, it's a ways off.

These are billions of $$$ of brilliant engineers being thrown at the problem and they've shown that it's simply not possible with the current internet infrastructure.

It'll require wholescale infrastructure upgrades into internet itself from the hardware & protocol level on up. It'll take at least a decade.

Nintendo doesn't serve the same market (it overlaps, but not by much)-- they'll be fine.

But PS5 has this gen under wrap over Microsoft on name alone. The name PS5 is clearly next gen, but good luck convincing zoomer & boomer parents to buy the Xbox Mach 10 Series X Mark 2 One: Founders Edition.

I've been impressed by the remote gaming on steam.

Tested it with a friend... I could play a decent looking fighting game (one of the soul caliburs or so it was) with him without owning it and not being bothered by lag. I thought that was impressive.

I don't think cloud gaming is that far off to working well tbh. Of course, provided you have a good connection.

Will get a PS5 ... when there is a lite version of it. Current version is big AF and all the launch games are coming to PS4 anyways.

Steam is best as is Steam Link.

Xbox kind of fucked up the market with the Series S. Developers are going to program for the lowest common denominator. It will fuck up multiplatform releases. And Microsoft is going to lose a ton of money on the cheaper version.

What a joke. It's next gen not gen 1.1. Fucking Microsoft needs to exit the console market and focus on services. Like what happened to their Microsoft stores.

Chinese Child, I'm talking about the future, not the present, and we do have 5G where I live. 1Gbps up & down fiber internet is also standard.

I'm going Sony this gen. Learn to read.

Cloud gaming is the future of gaming. At least 10 years away, but it'll be eventually be the standard. Sony has plenty of time to catch up.

Nekran, it's a ways off no matter how you slice it. Keep playing regularly and you'll see that the infrastructure isn't up to par. Even if it were perfect (which it isn't), not enough people have the right connection for it to hit critical mass.

Did anyone else take.notice that Atari is coming out with a new system?

So its supposed.to be a PC/ console hybrid, from.what I gather it will have a bunch of retro.games and probably just play all Atari games ( as they've continued to make games much like Sega)

"Keep playing regularly and you'll see that the infrastructure isn't up to par."

Well what I did wasn't cloud gaming though. Just remote playing on a friend's machine.

I've no interest in it atm anyways... bought a new pc earlier in the year, so I'm set for plenty of time.

Yea, same here. No interest in cloud gaming at all, just spotting trends.

One of the perks of being an AI researcher is my PC is always set up for gaming (2080 ti & 64 core processor until I get a 3090)... and a write-off expense!

Don't really game much anyways, though. Too many ways to make money these days to sit around in front of a game.

Also that Atari console looks like a vaporware scam.
