So Trumps court has allied itself with Covid 19.

Unsurprising to see patom siding with anti-religious bigotry:

"The opinion noted that in red zones, while a synagogue or church cannot admit more than 10, businesses deemed “essential”, from grocery stores to pet shops, can remain open without capacity limits. And in orange zones, while synagogues and churches are capped at 25, “even non-essential businesses may decide for themselves how many persons to admit”"

Please justify this hypocrisy patom. And when you do so, please note how restricting the First Amendment right to freedom of worship is acceptable when non-essential businesses are not subject to the same restrictions.

And let's not pretend that the Court is somehow undermining New York's highly effective Covid-fighting strategy.

This is the same state that killed tens of thousands of people by moving Covid patients into nursing homes after all.

Cuomo and patom can fuck themselves. Religious liberty won today.

Rugian, here in Maine a sparsely populated state as you well know. there have been at least a half dozen church functions that have turned into super spreaders starting with a wedding in Millinocket that lead to over 170 infections and at least 10 deaths. Mostly Pentecostals. With preachers not encouraging their congregation to protect themselves by wearing masks.

In Maine they do have capacity limits based on the square footage of grocery stores and box stores like Walmart. In fact yesterday I had to stand in line to wait for entry into the Brewer Hannaford.

I for one do semi believe in a god. I don't believe that he's keeping score on who goes to a church, mosque, synagogue, temple, etc. I live in a god made church. I look out my window and see his/her wonders every day. I am partial to his sunrises and if I could I would post some from the lake here.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and go fuck yourself :)

"Pentecostals"

Those bringing the lawsuit were Catholics and Jews.

Not sure about the Jews, but here Mass is social distancing families to one per pew, with blocked off pews between each populated row.

For the Jews the their Yamaka now doubles as a mask.

Rugian hit the nail on the head. Religious ceremonies are beimg singled out.

With all the time.money and effort put into trying to shut them down, an effective government would have contacted leaders and tried to make mitigating risks like, outdoor ceremonies, masks, SDing, increased hygiene etc.

You think that Synagogue isn't packed with doctors?

A A USA is increasingly an Agnostic Nation.

Pentecostals are the ones ignoring the restrictions. They don't give a fuck about mans laws or efforts to fight Covid 19. They don't seem to be worried about social distancing.

"Please justify this hypocrisy"

when you go to a store, you move through buy & leave

in church you sit for a long period of time

continuous exposure over time is known to be what is riskiest

so... justified

That is how Cuomo should do the new restrictions. Time based and crowd based.

No establishment can have more than 1 person per xx square foot and no visit can last more than 15 minutes.

Trump lead the way. Keep on tweaking government edicts until the supreme court says ok.

I am pretty sure not Synagogue is currently packed with doctors.

I don't know about anyone else but if I want advice on how to protect society from a Covid 19 pandemic, I'll consult scientists and medical professionals. To the best of my knowledge there are none of those on the Supreme Court.

And none in the governor's office.

Do what you feel is best, stop asking papa government to to cage and rob people.

Patom, And that's your right. The SC is merely saying 2 things.

1. Legislatures write laws, ot Governors.

2. Apply the law evenly. If they said white people can gather in groups of 20 and colored in parties of 10 or less, that wouldn't be fair, even though they are at higher risk.

Shopping for food and the other essentials of life while maintaining 6' social distancing, wearing a mask, utilizing hand sanitizers etc. is called survival.
Gathering in a the tight confines of a church or other religious edifice, not wearing a mask, ignoring social distancing are not acts that are essential for survival.

And pet shops and hair salons?

My neighbor hasnt gone shopping inside of a store since March. He lives off of food stamps so he orders from Wal-Mart and they take it to his car. Many grocery stores around hear offer a similar service. He gets his medication in the mail.

Even with severe epilepsy and brain injury ( beat in the head with a hammer) he gets by just fine without entering a store.

"And none in the governor's office."

according to the "president's guidelines for reopening" (that he never endorsed & actively rebelled against, yet was written by medical experts):

Phase I - LARGE VENUES (e.g., sit-down dining, movie theaters, sporting venues, places of worship) can operate under strict physical distancing protocols.

Phase II - "strict" changes to "moderate"

Phase III = "moderate" changes to "limited"

so yes, there is medical expert reasoning, & reasons to treat places differently (& why Trump's Tulsa rally that killed Herman Cain was the dumbest event on the planet)

Gorsuch or Kavanaugh is the swing vote now. Kavanaugh is closer to what Kennedy was and Gorsuch is a textualist. But ACB is supposedly an "originalist" which is another bullshit way of saying, "I pretend I know what I thought the founding fathers were thinking" same as Thomas and Scalia and Alito.

Anyways this case was just an opening shot. We'll have to see what happens to the ACA.

Time to consider if felon rights are being violated by not letting them own firearms if they want.

Also, just keep on tweaking any law overturned by the supreme court.

Trump showed the way. No need to give up. Evah.

All felons after parole.

Otherwise you are arguing that gun rights do not apply to people who have been violent for any reason.
habebe

What Im arguing is that you should not lose.ypur gun rights for an unrelated charge.

At that point it seems more like a privilege.

If you have abused your right by say, using a pistol in a robbery or rape. Or even if you used a knife, that is the only time when I could see a legitimate reason to take it all in the first place over a crime.

Where in the hell do you think they would find enough people to deliver all these products to everyone? It works for some but if everyone was ordering like your neighbor does, the lines would be miles long.
Hair salons and barber shops were shut down here 3 months. The world didn't end. We get our pet food at the grocery store. Have you ever heard of Chewy dot.com?
