GOP Sen. Richard Burr censured by state party after voting to convict Trump

"Tonight, the North Carolina Republican Party Central Committee voted unanimously to censure Senator Richard Burr for his vote to convict former President Trump in the impeachment trial which he declared to be unconstitutional," North Carolina Republican Party's Central Committee said in a statement following their unanimous vote Monday night. "The NCGOP agrees with the strong majority of Republicans in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate that the Democrat-led attempt to impeach a former President lies outside the United States Constitution."

Michael Whatley, the chairman of the North Carolina GOP, said in a statement that Burr's vote to convict was "shocking and disappointing."

"North Carolina Republicans sent Sen. Burr to the United States Senate to uphold the Constitution and his vote today to convict in a trial that he declared unconstitutional is shocking and disappointing," Whatley said Saturday.

The Republican Party of Louisiana's Executive Committee unanimously voted Saturday to censure Senator Bill Cassidy over his vote to convict former President Donald Trump during Trump's second impeachment trial.

Cassidy was one of seven Republicans to cast a 'guilty' vote during the trial, along with all 50 democrats, for a total of 57 votes. Democrats failed to get the two-thirds majority needed to convict the former president on a charge of "incitement of insurrection."

The committee released the following statement:

'The Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Louisiana has unanimously voted to censure Senator Bill Cassidy for his vote cast earlier today to convict former President Donald J. Trump on the impeachment charge.'

In a tweet shortly after 3 p.m., the LAGOP said, "We condemn, in the strong possible terms, the vote today by Sen. Cassidy to convict former President Trump. Fortunately, clearer heads prevailed and President Trump has been acquitted of the impeachment charge filed against him."

I posted this in another thread.

Trump is ready. And he’s mad at folks:

http://edi...rump-acquittal-2022/index.html

CNN)Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday that he spoke to former President Donald Trump after his acquittal in his second impeachment trial and that Trump is "excited" about the midterms in 2022.

"I spoke to him last night; he was grateful to his lawyers. He appreciated the help that all of us provided. You know, he's ready to move on and rebuild the Republican Party," Graham told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."

"He's excited about 2022. And I'm going to go down to talk with him next week, play a little golf in Florida. And I said, 'Mr. President this MAGA movement needs to continue, we need to unite the party.' "

Graham said Sunday that Trump is "mad at some folks." The South Carolina Republican added that he wants to take back the Senate in 2022 and the party needs Trump to achieve that goal.

Yes, The GOP needs Trump to take back the Senate.

What it doesn't need are disloyal establishment whores who knifed their president in the back so that they could continue being invitee to snazzy DC cocktail parties.

Every Republican who opposes Trump opposes the future. They must all be purged.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Republican leaders from several Pennsylvania counties have voted to censure Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) over his vote to convict President Donald Trump during his second impeachment trial.

The chair of the Clarion County Republican committee says they voted to censure Toomey earlier this week.

The Clarion County Republican committee’s censure document that was voted on unanimously said in part:

“It is the conviction of the Clarion County Republican Committee that proceeding with articles of impeachment against a President who is already out of office is constitutionally infirm and a purely self-serving vindictive and punitive action by those with establishment political objectives;”

Republican leaders from other counties including Lawrence, Washington, York, and Centre County have also voted to censure Toomey.

A scumbag is about to get what he deserves:

----

Some Utah Republicans are hoping to censure Sen. Mitt Romney for voting to convict former President Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial.
The motion, being circulated on social media, says Romney failed to “represent the average conservative Utah Republican voter” and “misrepresented himself as a Republican,” when he ran for office.

The draft censure of Romney includes a list of criticisms. It says Romney “embarrassed the State of Utah” when he was the only Republican senator to vote to convict Trump during his first impeachment trial.

The censure, pushed by party insiders, then attacks Romney for opposing the effort to declare Trump’s second impeachment trial unconstitutional since Trump was no longer in office, and for voting in favor of calling witnesses. It further excoriates Romney for joining six other Republicans to convict Trump on Saturday.

The censure motion concludes Romney used his “senatorial power and influence to undermine” Trump and claims “Romney appears to be an agent for the Establishment Deep State.”

At the time his grandfather left, The SS was a pretty small, exclusive organization (100ds), the SA was a large organization (10s of thousands).

The SA recruited from the same cadres as the communists did. A bit random who went where, though rampant homosexuality in the SA is well known.

So not random at all after habebe broached the topic.

This isn't funny. Millions of us are without power going on day the of below zero temperatures in homes that were not insulated for cold weather. Hundreds of thousands have been without water for two days.

I'm only able to post this now because I chose not to gamble on surviving temperatures so low that our emergency bathtub water froze solid, but rather braved untreated ice roads to go to another city that has power. Seeing that my part of the city still has no water or electricity as the third winter storm hits us as I'm typing this, I made the right call.

Hundreds have been hospitalized for hypothermia, a dozen dead, I expect dozens more will not survive the night in our neck of the city alone.

No, Texas did not prepare for a long series of winter storms in temperatures the state has never seen before. Was it stupid? I don't know, does New York prepare for mudslides? Does California prepare for tornadoes? Could an earth quake rip Lake Erie in two and the region be prepared for the infrastructure damage?

Sure it's possible, but it has never happened before so it isn't something people are prepared to deal with.

We don't deserve to be laughed at and mocked as we risk freezing to death, having no sanitary water and watch our homes and cities destroyed by ice, flooding and fire caused by burst pipelines and/or people trying desperately to stay alive.

The news has greatly understated the severity of what we are suffering right now. My new build home may be flooded, looted or wrecked by the time I can make it back again.

If you can't empathize, have the decency to fuck off somewhere else.

Seriously, you story does not add up. My version is more likely, though he may also have been a tanker during his conscription.

Your version tells the story of a man who lied on his citizenship papers and would have been deported if the truth had been uncovered.

The 1936 Luger is not connected to his military service.

Jergul, So the picture in an SS uniform is a fake as well? He may have lied, IDK. Ive heard the story passed down. Ive lookes up the pistol before, of your interested I can PM you a pic. From what Ive researched on the gun it was given to the SS as a sidearm, but not exclusively, I wonder if the serial number could tell me more that I dont know.It is stamped made in Berlin 1936.

Why wpuld you thinknhe lied ( very possible) the tanker thing intrigues me as I do beleive he was a tanker from what Ive heard, but that may have been in the first ww...as Ive said from the beginning, these were stories Ive heard from my grandmom and uncles. My great aunt was who has the picture.

I wish I knew of a place to verify his identity better.

I have no doubt he was in some uniform. Tanker uniforms were black too. I am not doubting there is a gun, I am questioning why you think it was his service pistol. He would not keep that after being discharged.

Most likely variant. He did his conscription as a tanker in the mid to late thirties, then migrated to the US. He bought the luger in the US after the war.

The SS stuff is a big deal. It would have voided citizenship and lead to his deportation if known.

Jergul,Again from the stories Ive heard ( he died in the 60s I was born in 85) he wasn't discharged as much as just bounced out.I was always told it was his sidearm, but from my research it wasnt only given to the SS but I think military police as well.

The tanker thing seems very feasible as I was told he was a tanker and heard stories about "Panzer Chocolade" that sounded like the best candy bar ever...lol.

"The Alaska Republican Party has voted to censure U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and will recruit a challenger to run against her in next year’s election.

The Republican State Central Committee voted in favor of the censure during a meeting Saturday in Anchorage after district-level officials passed a series of similar resolutions.

Under party rules, a resolution of censure is just “an official rebuke and disapproval,” but a picture of Saturday’s resolution, posted online, explicitly states that the party “will hereby recruit a Republican Party challenger to oppose and prohibit Senator Murkowski from being a candidate in any Republican primary to the extent legally permissible.”

“We’re looking for somebody else to be our U.S. Senator in 2022, and somebody who will be more in line with the Republican philosophy,” said Kris Warren, who wrote Saturday’s resolution and serves as the chairman of the Republican Party in an Anchorage House district.

Idaho Republicans want to defund their own attorney general for not backing Trump

Idaho's attorney general, Lawrence Wasden, declined to join 17 other GOP attorneys general seeking to invalidate Joe Biden's presidential victory.

When the Texas attorney general sued to invalidate Joe Biden's presidential victory in some states despite no evidence of widespread fraud, many said it had no chance.

But among Republicans, particularly in ultra-conservative Idaho, it was a fealty test to Donald Trump, and nearly every top-level Republican in Idaho indicated their support. The exception? Attorney General Lawrence Wasden, who declined to join 17 other GOP attorneys general in the legal action in December. He cited his respect for states rights and said he wouldn't appreciate others meddling in Idaho elections.

It was the last straw for a Republican-dominated Legislature long frustrated by Wasden. Now, lawmakers are trying to significantly defund his office by removing the attorney general as the primary defender of state agencies. If the effort succeeds, opponents say, it would essentially create a slush fund for political allies and Republican lawyers, costing the state millions of dollars in legal fees and possibly more if it loses in court.

It's another example of the GOP turning on its own elected officials deemed not sufficiently pro-Trump or who are seen as straying from conservative orthodoxy.

Nebraska Sen. Sasse rebuked by state’s Republican committee
February 28, 2021

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska Republicans reprimanded U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse for his work in Washington, D.C., but stopped short of censuring him Saturday for his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump.

Sasse was one of just seven Republicans who voted last month to convict Trump at his impeachment trial, and he has been openly critical of Trump, drawing criticism from some Nebraska Republicans who wanted him to be loyal to party candidates.

The Omaha World-Herald reported the state GOP’s Central Committee approved a resolution Saturday that expresses “deep disappointment and sadness” about Sasse’s approach to the job he was just reelected to in November and urges him to represent “the people of Nebraska to Washington and not Washington to the people of Nebraska.”

He abandoned Trump, so his family abandoned him. Sounds about right.

GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger’s family bashed him for opposing Trump: ‘We are thoroughly disgusted with you!’

After former president Donald Trump’s acquittal over the weekend, several Republicans who voted to convict him faced backlash and calls for censure from GOP officials in their home states.

But one Republican was condemned by a more intimate group: his family.

“We are thoroughly disgusted with you!!” relatives of Rep. Adam Kinzinger wrote in a two-page letter first published by the New York Times on Monday. “And, oh, by the way, we are calling for your removal from office.”

Kinzinger, a six-term Republican from Illinois, was one of the 10 GOP House members who joined Democrats to impeach Trump on a charge of incitement following the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. After supporting the effort to remove Trump from office, Kinzinger was censured by Republicans in his home district and then received a handwritten letter from a cousin that was signed by several other family members decrying his decision as a disappointment “to us and to God.”

Kinzinger’s family members accused him of joining “the ‘devil’s army’ (Democrats and the fake news media),” and extensively defended Trump against what they called “horrible, rude accusations.”

“To embrace a party that believes in abortion and socialism is the ultimate sin,” the letter said.

The letter was written by family members including Kinzinger’s cousin Karen Otto, who told the Times that she hoped the congressman would be “shunned.”

“It is now most embarrassing to us that we are related to you,” the letter continued. “You have embarrassed the Kinzinger family name!”

Mitt Romney Booed and Heckled as a ‘Traitor’ and ‘Communist’ at GOP Convention in Utah

Mitt Romney was nearly booed off stage during a Republican convention speech in his home state of Utah on Saturday.

“You can boo all you like,” Romney, who voted to impeach Trump twice, told the more than 2,100 Republican delegates in attendance.

The boos continued as Romney attempted to apparently go after the current president, asking the crowd, “So what do you think about President Biden’s first hundred days?” But when the senator began to acknowledge his differences with Trump, saying, “I don’t hide the fact that I wasn’t a fan of our last president’s character issues,” the boos grew loud enough to cause the senator to pause as taunts of “communist” and a “traitor” came from the crowd.

“Aren’t you embarrassed?” Romney said to some in the audience. Finally, in response to the relentless booing, Utah’s Republican Party Chairman Derek Brown interceded and chided the crowd by telling them to “please show respect.”

Romney tried to continue with his speech, but when he called himself an “old-fashioned Republican,” the boos again grew louder.

“Oh yeah, you can boo all you like, but I’ve been a Republican all my life,” Romney said. “My dad was a governor of Michigan, my dad worked for Republican candidates that he believed in. I worked for Republicans across the country, and if you don’t recall, I was the Republican nominee for President in 2012.”

After the speech, the convention voted down a resolution to censure Romney for his two impeachment votes 711-798, Utah Republican Party spokeswoman Lynda Cox told CNN.

And for those who think the "communist" label is misplaced...Romney has come out in support of BLM, an organization founded by out-and-out Marxists. So the designation is appropriate.

And of course, his treason against the God Emperor is undeniable.

Allies of GOP leader vow to oust Liz Cheney

Top allies of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) are vowing to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), one of the harshest critics of former President Trump in either party, from her leadership post by the end of the month.

They argue that the No. 3 Republican has repeatedly contradicted McCarthy and his team, undermining the party’s message and its efforts to take back the House majority in next year’s midterm elections.

“There is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month’s end,” one key McCarthy ally told The Hill on Monday. “When there is a vote, it won’t be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome.”

The developments suggest it is not just members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus who are pushing to get rid of Cheney; senior lawmakers in the 154-member Republican Study Committee, the largest GOP caucus on Capitol Hill, have been openly critical of Cheney and are now trying to orchestrate her removal.

“This is a broad range of lawmakers who have had it with her,” said a second McCarthy ally. “She’s a liability, and McCarthy’s as fed up as the rest of us that she is focused on the past rather than winning back the House.”
