Hundreds of thousands have been without water for two days. I'm only able to post this now because I chose not to gamble on surviving temperatures so low that our emergency bathtub water froze solid, but rather braved untreated ice roads to go to another city that has power. Seeing that my part of the city still has no water or electricity as the third winter storm hits us as I'm typing this, I made the right call. Hundreds have been hospitalized for hypothermia, a dozen dead, I expect dozens more will not survive the night in our neck of the city alone. No, Texas did not prepare for a long series of winter storms in temperatures the state has never seen before. Was it stupid? I don't know, does New York prepare for mudslides? Does California prepare for tornadoes? Could an earth quake rip Lake Erie in two and the region be prepared for the infrastructure damage? Sure it's possible, but it has never happened before so it isn't something people are prepared to deal with. We don't deserve to be laughed at and mocked as we risk freezing to death, having no sanitary water and watch our homes and cities destroyed by ice, flooding and fire caused by burst pipelines and/or people trying desperately to stay alive. The news has greatly understated the severity of what we are suffering right now. My new build home may be flooded, looted or wrecked by the time I can make it back again. If you can't empathize, have the decency to fuck off somewhere else.

He did his conscription as a tanker in the mid to late thirties, then migrated to the US. He bought the luger in the US after the war. The SS stuff is a big deal. It would have voided citizenship and lead to his deportation if known.

The tanker thing seems very feasible as I was told he was a tanker and heard stories about "Panzer Chocolade" that sounded like the best candy bar ever...lol. Where do you think I could look up such info? So far my best lead is to get in touch with my aunt Hanalore, she moved to Fla a few years ago, I hope she is still alive.I havnt seen her in person since my 6th birthday.
