I'm looking at This Stihl with a 55 GB motor and a 20 inch bar, only$289! At my local chainsaw shop.

If they have Stihl proffesional used I would go That rate.

My old landlord and rebuilt a still monster with like a 48 inch blade, even used they were pricey, but it looled like it could cut down fucking redwoods but it was like 20 years old mabey, well worn.

I also finally found a good all steel shovel. The wood and fiberglass all break. Fishers seem to be great quality, all my hatchets and axes are Fiskars.

20 inch stihl for 300 is a nice deal. I kindof wanted one similar but it was 400 at the time. I went 18 inch battery powered and thought it might be a little underpowered but the latest battery tech is good enough that i am quite impressed.

I would probably get a battery or plug in saw if I didn't need to cut down a bunch of big* trees that need to be cut down. After that its a bit of overkill, but still works great.

Actually that project farm channel has a comparison of different chain saw blades fitted to a weedwhacker that were great for smaller trees, definitley worth a watch, great channel that compares all sorta of tools and accessories.

I like the idea of electric chainsaws just because they need almost no maintenance.

Ya thats a big part of the reason i went with mine. All you gotta do is sharpen the blade.

Same with the mower. Gas mowers are such a pain in the butt, electric is worth it, even if those are underpowered. Modern batteries can keep up with my chainsaw needs but that motor/battery discharge rate needs to be about 50% better on the electric lawnmower. Still better than dealing with a gummed over spark plug from shitty degraded gas.

Plus I have to run non ethanol gas in it ( worst idea ever)

The alcohol kills the machines.Cars too really, it jist eats them from the inside.

Always use electric motors if power supply is not an issue. They are vastly superior to combustion engines in all things that do not require process heating.

I don't know if Stihl has a plug in chainsaw, they make a great battery chainsaw but the gas ones have more power which is needed when when dropping large trees.

A hand full of the pines may still pose a challenge with a 20 inch bar, they are massive and tall, 3x the height of an electric pole atleast and I'd venture a guess atleast 40 inches in diameter. On the upside they are straight as can be.

They do make plug ins.

Im still unsure how well they would handle large oaks and such.Bit I know the gas ones will.

I have a small electric chainsaw, and it's probably ok for my sister and her husband who primarily cut up small firewood,its also a shit brand (craftsman maybe?) But meh it was free.I think it just needs a new blade.

I also have an 18 inch Poulan, and it's great for smaller trees but struggles on that inner section of hardwoods.it also tends to pinch and loosening the chain on Stinks ( and most higher end new chainsaws) is easier with a small side adjuster.

I have a Husqvarna mower with a Honda motor on it. I've had it for well over 10 years. I've put 1 spark plug in it. At the end of the year I run it dry on gas. At the beginning of the year I fire it up and let it run till hot then change the oil. I use synthetic oil. I've been using ethanol free gas from a local Citgo station in all my lawn and snow blower equipment. BTW my snow blower is a Honda 1132 track that I've had for 12 years still has the original plug and starts on one pull. Blows snow 50'. Even wet heavy snow 10'. When I shut the blower off I do it by shutting the gas off and let the carb run dry.

Ya, with electronic motors you dont even need to do any of that prevention. I suspect they dont have the power for a good snowblower though.

That is a design choice. There are 48000 horsepower electric engines.

Those could blow a lot of snow.

Patom , Yeah Honda motors for push or selfpropelled mowers are one of the best out there. For a few years I did the landscaping 112 was as and have done other landscaping.

I wont do it down here for work other than my property or Family/friends. It just doesn't pay much and the work itself is much worse down here.

But anyway, Honda for mowers, John Deere for zero turns, Stihl for chainsaws/weedwhacker/blowers and fiskars or modified hand tools.

The one exception is Echo for weedwackers os preffered. To Stihl in certain situations. Mainly hills and valleys or any weedwhacking where you need to open up the string to cut grass for large areas.

The difference is that Echo is a lot lighter and easier to maneuver and still a high quality WW.

The Stihl is heavier, but it has insane power, I could run full speed and not miss a blade of grass while cutting a perimeter (where the mower cant go)

But I also prefer WW a small yard of grass, I thinknit just looks better. One day I was hopped up on Adderall and chose weedwhack the fenced in yards on my route and several homeowners came put to compliment how nice the yard came out, kind of annoyed my boss as they now wanted it that way everytime now.

For home Use I just use an echo arm 225 weed whacker.

I have several push mowers and a craftsman POS riding mower.

I hate the riding mower, I was spoiled with the zero turns.

Just bought a new carburetor for the Scotts mower, but Ibe really been wanting an electric self propelled mower if anyone has any reccomendations. It's just too much maintenance and especially if you get regular 10% ethanol gas, it fucksnwith the carbs and fuel systems.

I do most of the lawn with John Deere D105 42"cut. That's all I need here to do about an acre. I had a good winter plowing with the truck. Didn't peel much if any sod up in the side yard where I push all the snow.

Ive got the ego non-self propelled electric and its pretty nice but a little underpowered. If it had 50% more power id be very pleased, but it wont keep up with me jogging(or even walking normal if its thick), jamming more than id like. Still less of a hassle than gas i think.

The robotic self-docking ones are actually very good if you do the groundwork properely.

Honestly, I think I wouldn't use it a whole lot myself.But my sister/brother in law have a small fireplace and gather/cut small tree limbs and such all the time.

But it looks fun.
