Qualifying to become an steward/stewardess is by far the longer education to that of a pilot sammy.

You know that United Airlines is an international company right? I bet that 95% of those pilots will be asian males lol. And then United will have to implement some tweaks to get it down to 80%.

As long as its not asian ladies...

Its quite correct. Pilots have what? A 3 month education. Most stewardesses need at least a bachelor degree to qualify competatively.

Asians can't fly.

Whites do ok.

Blacks sleep on the job.

Arabs fly really well, but you have like a 7% chance of hitting a building full of people.

Pretty sure you don’t get to fly commercial transport after 3 months of flight school. The licenses are often tied to a certain amount of flight hours.

I think it's 250 hours, even more to extend certain hours. I remember my old buddy was doing something to get his instruments so he could.fly farther, there is a bunch of that.

Plus why woulds why wouldn't more flight attendants fly planes? It pays like triple.

Plus Jerguls setup 2 different scenarios.

He labled the bare minimum legal requirements for pilots and the the higher end for FAs.

Most competitive pilots have some sort of degree or classes.

"HOW DOES DELTA SELECT AND TRAIN ITS PILOTS?

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Delta looks for pilots with high standards for aviator skills, safety, professionalism and customer service. Candidates must meet several minimum requirements before being hired, including a total documented flight time of 1,500 hours. While Delta nearly always hires pilots with well above 1,500 hours, as important in their evaluation are other valuable attributes, like: quality, quantity, recency and verifiability of training; complexity of aircraft flown; types of flight operations experienced; and hours flown as PIC (pilot-in-charge) in turbine-powered aircraft."

What are JetBlue's minimum experience and qualifications for pilot hiring?

For a complete list of qualifications, please review the qualifications during the application process. Some of the qualifications include:

-1500 hours total time in airplanes (including turbine Helicopter, excluding Simulator, Flight Engineer)
-500 hours in fixed wing airplanes
-Recency of flight experience will be considered
-Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certification
-Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate
-Ability to obtain a Federal Communication Commission (FCC) Radio License
-Valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
-Three reference letters from Pilots who can personally attest to the candidate’s flying skills (must bring originals to interview)
-High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma

What are JetBlue's preferred qualifications for pilot hiring?

-Greater than 1,000 hours turbine PIC
-Greater than 1,000 hours in more sophisticated aircraft utilizing Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS), Flight Management Systems (FMS)
-Recency of experience (Greater than 200 hours within the last 12 months)
-Bachelor’s Degree

Southwest Airlines - First Officer Opportunities

Minimum qualifications

Certificates/Ratings
-USA DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. The certificate must display the following:
-"Airplane Multiengine Land" Category and Class Ratings.
-"English Proficient" limitationPlastic certificate (plastic not required if the certificate is a valid temporary certificate)
-USA DOT/FAA First Class Medical Certificate and, if applicable, any necessary Special Issuance of a Medical Certificate (Authorization) or Statement of Demonstrated Ability (SODA) issued by the Federal Air Surgeon

Education

A degree from an accredited four-year college is preferred.

Flight Experience

We require 2,500 hours total flight time or 1,500 hours total flight time in a turbine aircraft.

Additionally, we prefer a minimum of 1,000 hours in a turbine aircraft as the Pilot in Command. Only time in a fixed wing aircraft is counted. This specifically excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV, EWO and UAV.

Actively flying two of the past five years is preferred.

Some places require an additional BSc/4year of college? So with the flight hourse, we are talking about 6-7 years ? Jesus, you can get pretty far into a PhD in that time, seems abit overkill.

Nimi, Pilots generally make more than Doctors, with obvious exceptions such as specialists.

Pilots median salary in the US is 147k/year.

But peoples lives depend on both. But if a Dr. Fucks up he usually will only kill 1 person and not 200 at a shot.Unless the fuck up involves.a.contagious diaease.maybe.

Not when you are flying. They are not allowed to fly, like others push paper around, for too many hours. The FAA limit is 100 hours per month.

Habebe,
I don’t think that has anything to do with it, it is mostly a matter of scaling. A pilot is transporting 200 people and the doctor is only handling 1 patient at a time. In short, pilots get paid, becuse there is money to pay them with. Health care is also inherently less profit driven, there is no equivivalent ethical concern in denying someone airline services. People are actually banned for life from airlines.

Lol, the mind of jergul.

Also a flight hour is not equal to a work hour. A pilot typically works about 2 times as long for every flight hour.
Rugian

Given how jergulmath usually works, jergul probably saw the 1,500 hours requirement, divided it by 24 and concluded that you can become a pilot in 63 days. Easy!

Well, of course. If you start counting hours for the pilot from the moment he goes downstairs for his breakfast at the hotel.

You may be thinking of military pilots that get about 10 hours of flightime in per month. They have a lot of pretend tasks to do to fill up their schedule.

Nimi
"Current FAA regulations for domestic flights generally limit pilots to eight hours of flight time during a 24-hour period."

Note that there are no actual time limitation for pilots paying companies to let them fly so they get the 1500 hour in.

Stewardess training consists of learning how to ask "would like coffee or soda with your peanuts" and memorizing the hand gestures to make during the automated safety speech.

Sure though, it's sooooo much more difficult to be a stewardess than a pilot. Lmao

The new rules limit pilots to a maximum of 60 hours of flight duty per week, defined as 168 consecutive hours. In any consecutive 28-day period, a pilot cannot exceed 290 hours, of which no more than 100 can be flight time. During 365 consecutive days, pilots cannot exceed 1,000 flight time hours.

That stilll applies to qualified pilots already employed by airlines. It still caps flytime at 1000 hours a year. So you are arguing that pilots have 3 months of courses, then 1.5 years of practical flying. So half that of a stewardess.

You are not the rules for pilots busily trying to scrape together airtime so that airlines will hire them. There is probably a whole industry devoted to bankrupting pilots aspiring to a job with an airline.

Just ask yourself if a robot can do the job within a reasonable amount of time.

The answer to both return clerk and pilot is yes.

So a simple enough series of tasks that can be automated.

Robots are good at easy tasks, repetative tasks. Civilian piloting is heavily automated. The pilot is there mostly as a useless backup (though some actually caught the Boeing plane flipping and saved lives).

Lol. Civilian aircraft are nowhere near required safety levels for full automation.

And airlines are too busy going bankrupt to make it so.

But settle on 5k worldwide deaths per year instead of sub-1k, because we're hunkering down on serving peanuts being harder

Nimatzo, In the US healthcare is rather profit driven as well as a status thing.

The 200 customers will factor into it. At roughly $350 per flight tour talking 70k per trip all together.

Specialists like heart or brain surgeons get paid more.

US brain surgeons have median salary of 650k/year and top off around a million.

Now, now. We were just speaking of automation on the flight deck. We know that safety crew in the cabin will remain for as long as there are passengers.

Two slots down (radio operator and flight engineer). A few more to go.
Forwyn

And safety crew require requisite skills to operate the craft with zero automation, to ensure redundant safety levels.

I.e. pilots with much more extensive training than you implied at the start
jergul

lol@zero automation.

Remove automation and all large civilian aircraft have the flying capabilities of lead bricks.

The redundant safety features you are looking for is more failsafe automation.

I get that simple minds simply do not grasp how prevasive automation is and what is hard and what is easy to automate.

Fact is. Flight deck crews have been reduced by 50% without cabin crew seeing similar reductions.

If you can laminate everything procedurally someone is supposed to do, then they are most likely replacable by machines in the near future.

The main reason you need two pilots now is to keep one of them from crashing the aircraft into a mountain on purpose.
