Gang member wanted by police for firearms violations resists arrest, gets shot.

The criminal-american demographic is all riled up and ready to loot.

Militias and national guards should be ready to go tonight. Good practice for the chauvin trial too.

How many times has Minneapolis been sacked by BLM at this point? I've lost count.

Pretty clear resisting arrest by a violent criminal intent on starting a dangerous vehicle chase, so getting a mistaken shot by a gun instead of a taser should be chaulked up to his poor choices.

It wont though... think how many foot lockers can be looted and how many clicks media will get during the riots. A certain narrative will be pushed by those whom it benefits.

for the warrant, a local reporter claims: "Daunte Wright had an outstanding warrant for gross misdemeanor carrying a pistol without permit and misdemeanor fleeing police."

So in other words, if Minnesota had looser gun laws this would have never happened.

[MPD Chief Tim Gannon]: "It is my belief that the officer had the intention to employ their taser, but instead shot Mr. Wright with a single bullet ... an accidental discharge."

That wasn't just "accidental", that was a *negligent* discharge.

Imagine being so grossly incompetent that you get your taser and your pistol confused. *So* many personal mistakes have to occur for that to happen — the weight difference, the appearance difference (tasers have obvious and bright markers). Many officers will even put the taser on the opposite side of the belt from the pistol specifically to avoid that kind of mix-up in a panic situation (and that appeared to be the case with the other two officers on scene; pistol on the right, taser on the left) — it requires a separate muscle movement. Even calling out, "Taser!" before firing should have clued her in that, wait, this isn't a fucking taser. So she should at the least lose her job, though further punishment would depend on the criminal's role in creating that situation. And that should be further proof that police need better training, which means better funding. #FundBetterThePolice

That said, a career criminal attempting to flee arrest with a deadly weapon (a car) while in possession of a deadly weapon (a pistol).. yeah. Not exactly a hero. Fleeing arrest with a deadly weapon can legally make him an active threat to others which can justify lethal force. So even if the officer confused weapons, a pistol would not necessarily have been a bad call — officers and bystander-citizens can indeed die from a suspect pulling away and fleeing in a car (e.g., December 2019; "Police said that during the stop, the man managed to wrestle free from officers, get back into his vehicle, and then hit [and kill Officer] Sullivan as he drove away" http://www...-and-killed-by-fleeing-suspect ). That is a very dangerous situation for officers; in a situation like this, they can be pulled under the wheels in an instant.

Regarding the people in the Twitter comments calling this shooting "racism"... umm.. no. This wasn't some good-willed citizen who was afraid of the "Big Bad Institutionally-Racist Police State"™ (Trademark, Instigation Media) and thus attempted to flee so that police wouldn't kill another unarmed black man. He was a criminal with warrants who attempted to evade arrest with deadly weapons because he knew that consequences and accountability had finally caught up to him. He designed his own ruin. People rioting in response to this shows more disconnect between action and consequence. Those few minutes that Chauvin knelt on an unconscious Floyd may be the only minutes of justification that we ever see from these sorts of protests, and the court evidence does not even look good for exactly how bad that kneeling even was.

Ya both the criminal and the cop fucked up in this case.

Cop deserves to get fired. No criminal conviction though. Split second decision while in action with a criminal.

A news release from the Office of Communications
A Division of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety

"Officer Kim Potter has been with the Brooklyn Center Police Department for 26 years. She is on standard administrative leave. Further personnel data are not public from the BCA under Minnesota law during an active investigation."

That was a disastrous blunder for an officer with 26 years of service. She severely wounded her own future killing a reasonably dangerous criminal. Her pension and benefits are most likely swirling the drain. I imagine that recruitment is becoming nearly impossible. Reasoning for the exodus of active policing is totally understandable.

With politicians and leftists not allowing policing of africans, african crime rate will skyrocket( even more than its massive current rate), harming african neighborhoods the most.

Leftist math about crime rates is as bad as right-wing math about vaccines.

"My son was shot over an air freshener. He dindu nuffins!!!"

Actual story:

He was being arrested for aggravated armed robbery, choking and robbing woman at gunpoint.

http://www...ted-robbery-when-he-was-killed

Of course the left-wing media ran with the first one as their headline. Its amazing how media is allowed to lie to incite riots.

air freshener was what dead guy told his mother on phone during the stop (& police chief did mention it... i kinda wonder if it IS the reason they pulled him over & came up with expired tags later for a better reason)

and the warrant was for a 'gross misdemeanor' according to the police chief, so wouldn't have been about any of that robbery stuff

i'd say more offensive right-wing media (Fox News, New York Post) running w/ that old felony warrant so people will think it's what cops saw

it had no relevance to this incident (unless police chief had wrong info)

although we can be more glad he's dead

Really, the black community should be celebrating that this criminal is gone... but that would be too logical.

What the hell was that press conference that the police chief held? He had "journalists" (read: leftist activists) shouting at him the entire time.

He's now since resigned from his job...the latest victim of the outrage mob.

They need to start to distinguish the taser from the real gun so that there can’t be any mistake no more. Real guns should be painted in a neon color – yellow, green or pink, so that the police officer clearly can see when he has the real gun in his hand.

[Rugian]: "What the hell was that press conference that the police chief held? He had "journalists" (read: leftist activists) shouting at him the entire time."

It was particularly hilarious that those activists were trying to get him to adopt their false narrative of a riot-free night — even after he explained that people were throwing things at and injuring his officers. Narrative over reality.

Yeah, he well played himself ;)
That'll help him get charged later since it reveals his motive and establishes possession.

..
Ben & Jerry's on Twitter has gone full retard. They've apparently been posting stuff like this for quite some time, which explains why they gave Colbert a flavor:

"Ben & Jerry's @benandjerrys Apr 12
The murder of #DaunteWright is rooted in white supremacy and results from the intentional criminalization of Black and Brown communities.

This system can’t be reformed.

It must be dismantled and a real system of public safety rebuilt from the ground up.
