Yup. Huge fail. You could absolutely tell when they ran out of George R Martin material and started making their own shit up.

On a side note I'm pretty certain that's what happened to the Matrix as well. First one had to be based off of something those directors had read, and the shit plot following in 2 and 3 were of their own meat headed creation.

To be fair, it's no longer george r martin material past the first 3 seasons. And GRR will never finish the books. He wrote himself into a hole.

What sucks is that they could've just added 2 episodes to give what happened some fleshing out and it would've been fine. Just lazy and stupid all around.

What the fuck is with hollywood giving control to writers who don't give a shit? Star Wars and GOT are glaring examples of shameless and lazy cash-ins.

Does HBO still pay people to leave sycophantic comments on their videos like "the writing is modern-day Shakespeare" or [xyz show creater] is an absolute genius?"

Those things now sound a lot less believable ever D&D completely shit the bed with Seasons 7-8.

Gotta give GOT and disney star wars some credit.

GOT put out like 50 entertaining hours before going to shit, and disney while they made the ultra-gay main sequels also made the elite rogue 1 and pretty good mandolorian(elite ending btw).

Way better performance than the average hollywood homo.

Wow, the person who made the OP YouTube video should be a "journalist" with all of that bad selective editing.

E.g., Danny talking about how she's not her father (2:35): the video takes it as breaking continuity by believing that she has somehow surpassed her father's insanity and could not possibly make the same mistakes as him (burning people mercilessly). But, that was *not* the meaning of her scene with Ser Barristan. When she hears about the horrors of her father, she is *uncertain* if she has the mental fortitude to not herself become power hungry when tested — that was via her look (plainly acted) showing that Danny did not know for sure what dark pathway was inside of her mind. And she failed this test *many* times leading up to her arrival in Westeros. People around her wanted to believe that she was virtuous overall, but she continually failed her tests (becoming brutal and manipulative) and relied on counselors to keep her from becoming her father. And, she *lost* all of her virtuous counselors one by one, thus becoming her true self: her father.

They also show Danny talking about the "blood of innocents" in the sacking of a city, but it was made clear that she did *not* think that the people of King's Landing were at all innocent.

I thought GoT messed up their last two seasons, but it is annoying when people cite shitty reasons based in poor understanding of the material as *why* the last seasons fizzled. I weirdly agree with Dukhat on this one: "What sucks is that they could've just added 2 episodes to give what happened some fleshing out and it would've been fine."

The writers laid all of the groundwork for the conclusion, they just needed to slow down the pacing so audiences could understand those details.

2 additional episodes would have been woefully insufficient.

The white walkers were so built up over the course of the series; the third act needs to justify that build-up by being epic and drawn out in scale.

One battle at Winterfell ain't that.

The arc with the white walkers should have consumed an entire (10 episode) season. The fight against Cersei and the conflict between Jon and Dany should have been interwoven into that arc, not tacked on immediately after it.

Most of all, GRRM should have stopped ramming donuts down his fat fuck mouth for five seconds and finished those last books.
