The company still has 53 stores in the city. Theft in Walgreens’ San Francisco stores is four times the average for stores elsewhere in the country, and the chain spends 35 times more on security guards in the city than elsewhere, Cunningham said. At CVS, 42% of losses in the Bay Area came from 12 stores in San Francisco, which are only 8% of the market share, Brendan Dugan, director of organized retail crime and corporate investigations, said at the hearing.” The New York Times reports that Commander Raj Vaswani, the head of the investigations bureau at the San Francisco Police Department says “the one trend we are seeing is more violence and escalating — and much more bold. We see a lot of repeat offenders.” Ahsha Safaí, a member of the San Francisco board of supervisors, tells the NY Times that stolen good are sold at sidewalk thieves markets where even steaks, bicycles and other goods are fenced. Safaí said he had recently stopped to inspect one of these markets and saw “half of Walgreens was on the sidewalk. I’m not kidding. I was blown away. I’ve never seen anything like it in this city.” He says people have become so conditioned to the thefts, “it has become part of the landscape. People say, ‘Oh, well, that just happens.’ Thieves “are obviously choosing locales based on what the consequences are. If there are no consequences for their actions, then you invite the behavior. But I feel like it just became common place in California not some small dent in profits because a handfull homeless people or someone eating a grape in line.

Habebe Member	Wed Jun 16 22:13:49 No I don't. To clarify, its not that I support shoplifting. But from atleast my personal experiences between suburban/rural PA vs SC. I favor more PA style controls. In short I dont think its right for someone doing some small time shoplifting to get buy should spend 6 months plus in jail only to be released worse off. I love the new program pur governor has been promoting and hope it expands. Right now it offers free training through the community colleges for specific in demand jobs trades ( welding, powered lineman, patient care etc.) Something similar to this for repeat offendors I think would be better off long term. CA just went over board, some people just cant have nice things.

Islamic countries are not crime ridden cesspools, quite the opposite. Islamic societies have a high degree of control and social policing that is difficult to understand if you have no been there, things are more easily, the business of the entire village, so to speak. Judicial safety is low (less evidence to sentence) and punishments are harsher. There is no organized criminal syndicates in Islamic countries to speak of, entities rivaling the state are crushed with impunity. There is evidence that Sweden attracts more criminals, because it pays off to commit crimes in Sweden. Smuggle drugs in Sweden and you get a couple of years with good behavior, in Iran you could get hanged. You can even see it in the figures on the immigration from Norway and Denmark, the average Danish immigrant to Sweden, is more criminal than the average Dane in Denmark. We have a retarded system. Anyway what is also true, is that this miseration is highly ethnified and that is going to be fun.

And again, social policing, limitations on the free movement of eligable young people etc. then they move to Sweden where 11 year old girls are half naked. Certain types of rape and sexual effences have gone up, and unique among EU countries and OECD, shootings and gun crimes are going up in Sweden. You know what had a gang/clan set up road blocks to provide security for a meeting between gangs?
