> expected tax revenue boost of $97 million a year

> $100 million bailout

So much for taxing pot magically paying for all the things.

> California’s 15% tax on legal marijuana has been blamed for pushing consumers to the illicit market

> Allan doubts the $100 million will bring much relief, calling it a “drop in the bucket” that won’t be enough to save all the struggling dispensaries.

So the 15% tax is the problem, but refunding the tax is a drop in the bucket. Article so illogical my brain hurts.

> $630 million in future tax funds from legalized cannabis to be spent on health care, environmental protection, and public safety.

What the hell. So they're spending 6 years of FUTURE tax money from an industry that's completely failing and already had its tax money refunded?

This singular article sums up the California shitshow succinctly.

the $97 million is Connecticut's expected revenue (not California)

Key numbers are missing from the article. 100 million really does not seem like a lot for a market the size of california.

It's quite a sparse article for a financial media outlet.

For years people have been saying it's cheaper to just move and start another illicit grow a mile away than to pay the fees and fines and other bureaucratic Cali bullshit

lol @ Cali

A 15% tax on top of Californias infinite other taxes.

About 250k in nonsensical bureaucracy fees to start each business.

An attempt to give permits only to non-whites, decreasing competence and creating a series of expensive lawsuits.

Lol

Literally instead of just streamlining the process across states and counties they hand state and county bureaucracies cash to allegedly assist individuals and businesses with meeting the cost of compliance. Fucking retards rofl

The Colorado article actually does highlight challenges transitioning from a illegal market to a legal one.

Prohibition issues did not really end until the mobster cases in the 1980s and early 90s. For some historical perspective.

You might have done better just going with State monopolies on sales.
