TLDR
MBS suggest to do away with the hadiths. A great start one would think, but ultimately the hadiths are very fundamental to Islam and form the basis for the different Sunni (and shia) schools of thought and jurisprudence. Such a reform of Islam, would eclipse all the reforms of Christianity, combined.

This may be the start of the collapse of Saudi Arabia.

I doubt it.

SA has always been a tug of war between the religious and the royals.

It's literally the story of its founding.

Admittedly I only skimmed the top of the story, Id be very interested to see the interview though if anyone has a link.

"Such a reform of Islam, would eclipse all the reforms of Christianity, combined."

No, sorry. When you have LBTQ imams and mosques then you can make the comparison

I get what you are saying, but those things are not actual centralized reforms of Christianity, but the implosion of certain (minority) denominations of Christianity, as it is trying to stay relevant. There are already gay imams and likely mosques.

This is the prince of the land of the two Mosques, he is talking about imploding ALL the schools of the largest denomination of Islam. The hadiths are like the gospels in dignity.
