” US State Department spokesperson Ned Price avoided giving a direct statement on the issue. Still, he repeated the US government's line against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that "unfairly singles out" Israel.”

What? Should Ben & Jerry boycott the Palestinians also for being victims of a military occupation?

Some of the blowback from this is definitely overblown, I agree.

Ben and Jerrys has had this coming for a while now though. A significant part of their business model revolves around looking as "woke" as possible, and they've been engaging in a ton of political activism over the years. They were overdue for having that strategy blow up in their faces.

The problem with being a company that goes all-in on politics is that you risk alienating a good 50% of your potential consumer base. I don't know why corporations keep on insisting on doing it.

I guess when you're Ben and Jerry's and 90% of your customers are stoned college kids, you don't need to worry too much about passing off conservatives.

Well it costs about four times what other ice cream does so having half the customer base doesn't matter as much.
And idiots are willing to spend more if the idiots think you agree with them.

This is a smart move by them. They live and die on brand loyalty.

This alienates people outside of their target market and solidifies those within it. Brilliant.

Same reason why I bought Twitter stock when they banned Trump and everyone else was selling it.

Guess who was right?

This guy. I made a ton of money on buying Twitter 2 days after they banned Trump.

Why?

Because I knew it was a smart business move. Again, solidifies the in-group and alienates the out-group.

That's how business is done, fellas. I don't "agree" with either decision, for the record. But I was able to see that it was a smart business move before the market realized it, and I was rewarded handsomely.

I bought Twitter Jan. 12th for $47. Right after all the crybabies dumped it into my hand.

Now it's worth $73 and my thesis worked to a T.

Money > Feelings.
