Schools out, and many schools broke up a weak or two early due to positive tests. As so many cases are in school aged kids, school being out has a real effect on new infections. 2. Holidays - people less likely to report lateral flow tests or get pcr tests if it will kill their summer holidays. 3. Better weather - more outdoor socialising less indoor socialising 4. The spike may have been inflated by the Euros - and once the Euros were over, less crowds socialising in pubs etc. Will dig out a good thread summarising what the independent SAGE group think

We will know more in a few weeks I guess when we see hospital .
