I was cursing at my inbox, going through my inbox that was completely neglected during this summer and find an email from a coworker, I had just said hello to her.

Long story short, it goes, "some of you know my boyfriend (who also worked here at another department) he decided to end his life by shooting himself, in front of me in our house. He died a few days later from his injuries."

The brutality of life put things in perspective.

Slightly more interesting than how Rugian's dad died.

I don’t want to turn this into another crypto currence thread, but what happened? Did he lose all his money on bitcoin?

Anyhow, has the police checked the gun for fingerprints? Maybe it was she who shot him. Because how common is it that you committ suicide in front of your wife? I think people do it elsewhere.

I learned some more details and apparently there was a history of violence against his exes, even a verdict she didn’t know about. She locked herself in a room, he kicked and broke the door, pointed the gun at her face, before shooting himself. Small caliber handgun so he survived only to die in the hospital a few days later.

Obviously had issues.

Pretty strange to announce the way the death happened on a work e-mail. also, if a ton of people were cc'ed on it the inevitable reply all fools would show up so it's difficult to believe this went unnoticed.

Depends on the workplace. Engineering heavy organizations don't have the reply all problem because they aren't populated with idiots.

They both worked here, so his death was announced on the intranet and she wrote that the decision to speak about it openly was taken together with her crisis mangement team. Instead of rumors and hearsay, she wrote this. That it was ok to come and ask her. The mail was only to our department, not the entire corporation.

You can also configure so the other people do not see who else got the email, so no one can reply to anyone, only back to the sender.

I didn’t know him no. Always liked her and am very sad for her, but I also sense that a sad chapter in her life has come to an end, a burden has been lifted from her shoulders. In some sense I am happy for her, strange thing to say. But this had been going for a while, he had even made some half hearted attempts at therapy…

If only he had two guns. Then he could have shot himself before he shot himself.
