I by no means want to run this thing, but I'm getting it started, cause it's pretty much the only thing here that's been worthwhile for a few years now to me. That cocksucker CR won last year, Fred gets the TNF games unless he surprises us by playing. Let's do this thing!

The options for Week 1 are below. Your pick must be posted in this thread prior to kickoff of the game you are picking.

Underdog listed first. Home team in CAPS.

oh thank the gods Nekran did this. I was going to make the thread tonight, but I wasn't psyched about it ;D

NO gb 4.5

Bummer about Drew Brees retiring, but maybe the sports gods will help N.O. after Ida like they did after Katrina.

We do have a pretty solid crypto thread that could be worth quite a lot of like actual money, but I guess some people are more interested in LARPing team managers.

Sorry, the crypto thread doesn't interest me at all... I do tend to make some money betting on these games too though :-)

I'd be interested in the crypto thread if you guys could step-by-step walk me through how to get actual BitCoin rather than stakes in BitCoin ;p

..
Saints off to a strong start!!!
Eagles too!!!

Bengals beat the Vikings!!!!!!
This could be the Bengals' year!! Super Bowl all the way!!! ;D

But the Bears seem to be getting rekt right now (currently Bears 7 - 20 Rams, Q3 10:29). I want all my favorites to succeed, but maybe the Bears will get left behind this week :'(

Cherub Cow. I would recommend you getting Ethereum instead, but if you insist on Bitcoin.

1. Download BitPay (either on desktop or phone)
2. Follow instructions (be sure to keep your seed phrase secure and add an encryption password. if someone gets your seed phrase they get all your money)

Now you have two options:
1. Connect to Coinbase or the BitPay service and buy directly in the wallet.
2a. Click on "Receive", then "Bitcoin" and copy your public key. This key is safe to share with anyone, as it only allows deposits. However, everyone you share it with will also be able to see your balance (blockchain is public).
2b. Take your public key and buy Bitcoin on an exchange. Coinbase is the smoothest experience but also the most expensive fees. On that platform you can withdraw from the exchange and type in your public key as the withdraw address.

As for Ethereum, it's pretty much the same, except I'd recommend Metamask browser extension as the wallet, as it'll allow you to interact with Web3 which is pretty damn cool tech.

If you are extra paranoid, you can use a hardware wallet. I use the Ledger Nano. It makes it so physical interaction is required to interact with your crypto, so nobody can hack your computer and spend your coins.

There's some subtleties here, but that's the Cliffs Notes version.

Also, congrats to us on our New Orleans win ;)

Also, CC, you should be happy. Everyone in the NFC North is 0-1 so we all get a do-over next week. lol
