Police announced an incident in the town of Kongsberg south-west of the capital Oslo at around 18:30 local time (17:30 BST). Chief Oeyvind Aas said a suspect had been caught and seemed to have acted alone. The suspect reportedly moved throughout the town, and authorities have cordoned off several large areas. Media reports say the attacker opened fire at a Coop Extra supermarket on Kongsberg's west side. Residents were ordered to stay indoors. The suspect has now been taken to a police station in the town of Drammen, police said. As yet police say the number of casualties is unclear, as is the motive for the attack. The injured have been taken for treatment at nearby hospitals. Dozens of emergency vehicles are reportedly at the scene, including ambulances, police cars and helicopters. Norway's justice minister Monica Maeland has been informed and is closely monitoring the situation, the ministry tweeted.

About half way through the post the song Gun In My Hand by Dorothy came on so I say no don't take bows and arrows away. Let them have the bows but they have to register them and arrows must be tracked with serial numbers and made super expensive. Or just make everybody carry a bow and half a dozen arrows when out in public.

The police then said ”If you are going to shoot at us we will have to get our guns”, ”Hold it, wait there! We will return soon”. The guy walked away, and the police lost him. While the police went to get guns, the guy killed 4-5 people,

It is probably a good idea to have the violence monopoly act in layers. The first layer doesn't necessarily need to have guns. You don't need show up for a nuisance complaint, traffic violation or [enter misdemeanor] with a gun. Escalate from there all the way up to orbital bombardment.

I heard that the first patrol didn't want to arrest him because they didn't have any guns. I also heard that he shot at or attacked the police in some way. So they had to wait for the guns. While the police were waiting, the guy ran away and the police lost track of him, and he killed people while the police were waiting for guns.
