Maryland resident burns down home in attempt to get rid of snakes

BY BRAD DRESS - 12/04/21 01:20 PM EST

A Maryland homeowner accidentally burned down their house after attempting to smoke out snakes infesting the basement.

The Montgomery County resident used coals in the basement to try to ward off the snakes, WTOP of Washington, D.C., reported.

A fire broke out on Nov. 23 at 10 p.m. Officials said 75 firefighters were called to put out a blaze that had caused more than $1 million in damage.

No one was injured in the fire.

Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service told The Washington Post that firefighters found just one snakeskin in the house and one snake that had survived.

But there had been "a lot" of snakes in the house before the fire, he added.

the guy could have sprayed some diluted cinnamon oil along the walls and all the snakes would have left.

When we bought this house in 16, there was a firewood pile in the detached garage. Aspire and I found 18 garter snakes living in the wood pile. It was fun throwing the wood outside and these snakes trying to hide and go deeper.

No one else keeps some zyklon B around? What is it hydrogen cyanide?

I get it though, snakes are bad.

Snakes are fine ... outside ... over there.

Inside the house?

Habebe, back in the early 70's I worked for a friend who had a tree surgery business. We were able to buy powdered cyanide and had a rig that looked like a oversized bicycle air pump. Used it for bees. Some kind of nasty.

Well, the ternary operator seems to work in this context. There may be a budding computer programmer in you that wants out. :)
