Pope Francis has compared the EU to a 'Nazi dictatorship' for trying to impose woke rules on language and ban using the word Christmas.

The pope, 84, warned the bloc not to 'take the path of ideological colonisation' as he returned from Greece after a four-day trip.

Last week, the EU was accused of trying to 'cancel Christmas' after telling staff to avoid the word in favour of 'holiday period' because it could be offensive to non-Christians.

Eurocrats published the rule months ago as part of a guide on 'inclusive communication', details of which leaked leading to a furious backlash.

Other suggestions in the book included replacing Christian names such as Mary and John with 'international' names such as Malika and Julio when using them in generic examples, and swapping the word 'man-made' for 'human-induced'.

i doubt it said "because it could be offensive to non-Christians"

just for the standard reasons stores started using "Happy Holidays"... it wasn't a D law that was rolled back by former guy, it's them just wanting to be welcoming to all for their own benefit

Tw is really threading the needle in order to defend the EU here.

But you are wrong, as usual. Europe is the center of EUROPEAN culture, and Christmas is an integral part of that culture. It should not be offensive to evoke the term Christmas in Europe of all places.

Apparently, Boston banned Christmas for over two decades in the 1600s.

It was officially illegal to observe Christmas in Boston by taking the day off from work, feasting, or celebrating in any other way.

Those in violation were fined five shillings.

Well it is a red white and blue tree and was being called the "all-American Christmas" tree. Pearl Harbor was a stretch though.

At least they didn't bring some idiot on half a dozen times to say worse than Watergate.
