If Biden has many more weeks like this one, then yes Nanking.

Jesus. Accusinf anyone who doesn't support same day registration and restrictions on voter ID as being on the same side as Bull Connor and Jefferson Davis is the absolute height of demagoguery.

Even leftwing Dems like Durbin admitted that Biden fucked up there.

And Sinema torpodeoing Bidens entire strategy today was priceless. Lol

Does anyone still believe that THIS is the president that can "unify the country?" On anything?

Sinema made me smile.

The whole thing seems like a desperate attempt to mitigae their losses soon to come.

26 house democrats are retiring.

Internal Democratic polling a few months ago showed that battle ground districts had +6 Republican lean...so probably closer to 10 and Biden's approval has only spiraled further down.

The tea party wave didn't have those numbers. Their only chance is an economic turnaround but it would have to be big.

dems will get crushed which will have no impact on this do-nothing caretaker administration anyway.

nothing to do with the voter rights bill btw, which is the right direction. more to do with outside factors: slow move out of covid, inflation, supply chain, etc...

There is NOTHING good about the For the Politicians Act. Its a garbage bill pushed by the far left fringe of the Democrats (of which Y2A is a member).

Biden is tanking in part because of Covid, but he set himself for failure on that front when he callously suggested that the president could magically defeat a virus.

He is also tanking though because he has completely gone all-in with the Warren-AOC extremist wing of the party, casting aside any semblance of moderation. He somehow interpreted the Democrats' razor thin margin of victory in 2020 as a mandate to be the most transformational potus since FDR and LBJ, and his polling now sucks for it.

"I thought it was a good speech," Sharpton said. "Now, in this particular case, dealing with my friend and brother Joe, if he was trying to get votes, it was not the vote-getting speech … I'm a minister. Either you get up, and you try to persuade people of their sins and appeal to their better angels. But when they come to church, and they still have the jug of whiskey up under the pew, you say, you’re going to hell. I think he gave a ‘you’re going to hell’ speech."

Mid term elections lack the enthusiasm of presidential elections. That is why the minority usually does well. Their side has more incentive to get out and vote. So far the Democrats have nothing to cause enthusiasm in their base.

The economy is going to do what it will as is Covid. Chances are Covid won't be near the issue as what the economy is going to be. According to many experts we should peak early February and if this virus is like past (it is behaving that way) this will be the last big wave.

Republicans will not run on the economy though. Sure they will bring it up as they are out and about but as an issue the economy isn't sexy. Doesn't generate a ton of enthusiasm. People will be pissed about the economy but will mostly be thinking but what you going to do about it.

The big issue is going to be schools. Republicans are not going to let that drop if they have any brains at all and education is an issue that can cause enthusiasm. There has been a shift in part of the Democrats base because of education. that is the segment Republicans are going to try and inspire to get out and vote.

I'm predicting mid July President Biden all of a sudden becomes much more reclusive than he already is. Democrats know there is much more chance anything he says will be used as a weapon against them rather than be an inspiration to their base. Midterms are all about the base and the Democrats really have nothing to get them enthused. Midterms could be really ugly.

"Midterms are all about the base and the Democrats really have nothing to get them enthused."

What are you talking about? They passed that Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill to make sure red state welfare queens could get subsidized broadband out in the sticks and Elon Musk could get another government subsidy.

That's a win, right?

Kargen, I'll have to side with Bill Clinton. Its the economy stupid.

Inflation will be front and center in Republican talking points.

Lockdowns will be big too. My nieces school just went virtual again. How are working parents expected to stay there with the kid online all day? 8 hours of steady streaming. She is 6, you cant just leave her alone.

Wokism in general will also be on trial. Tranny athletes, 1619, CRC related ideas etc.

Could have been maybe if they had done it back in April when the Republicans agreed. Stalling meant four months of missed benefits.

No, it couldn't have. I was never going to be a political win because it wasn't designed to be.

The one and only purpose of that bill and splitting it from the BBB bill was to cripple the progressive caucus.

To Republicans, Democrats are the enemy.

To Democrats, progressives are the enemy.

And of course all the energy in the party (especially in off year elections) comes from progressives.

The Democratic Party is going to enjoy the bitter fruits of its labor.

To Americans politicians are the enemy.

Murder is right about the progressives though. The DNC Clintonians seem to hate them within their party.
