Utopia Talk / Politics / Twitter: Elon Musk: Freedom of Speech

Ryan Mac @RMac18

Some news: SpaceX investigated the employees who wrote and distributed an open letter criticizing Elon Musk's Twitter habit. Some of those employees have been fired.

http://twitter.com/RMac18/status/1537681209639153664

Someone at SpaceX actually bought Elon's anti-censorship bullshit and got him/herself and a bunch of other employees fired.

So am I a lot of the times here tho, so I don't have much room to criticize. But his assholeness actually hurts people, mine just chafes murder's crack a bit.

Freedom of speech is okay as long as you don’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

Do we even know if this is true and how much of it is true? Could it be that "some of those" employees sucked at their job? It would have been one thing if they all got fired. At least that is how I am reading it.

”distributed an open letter criticizing Elon Musk”

They probably broke some loyalty clause in their employment contracts.

Ok so this is their response:

In her letter to SpaceX employees, Shotwell clarified that the people behind the open letter had been terminated. She noted that SpaceX had received complaints from several employees who complained about the open letter because the initiative made them feel “uncomfortable, intimidated and bullied, and/or angry because the letter pressured them to sign onto something that did not reflect their views.”

I'm 90% sure this is an excuse to fire underperformers. Just like his letter saying you're fired if you don't have your butt in a chair for 40 hours a week.

The asshole part to me is how he does these endarounds to fire underperformers. If that's the goal, do that, and be straight up about it. He might be trying to avoid unemployment claims or something, dunno.

But my problems with Musk are far beyond these things, he has a track record of being disingenuous.

Oh, didn't see your followup. Maybe I'm wrong then. I can see how a mass email would be disruptive to the workspace.

I support companies firing activists.

Should happen more often.

Agreed. We had a guy do a mass email protesting COVID vaccines, somehow he got access to the whole list, over 100,000 employees and sent a long rant about COVID conspiracies in 2020. He was fired immediately

Yeah, imagine thinking that you can publicly castigate your own company and expect to still have a job the following day.

The level of entitlement and stupidity to have that mentality is mind-boggling.

With almost any employer-employee relationship, there is an implied or explicit understanding that each side doesn't shit on the other to the outside world. You're there for each other's benefit. If that's not something you can abide by, then don't take money from an employer.

Elon Musk ... Free speech absolutist*

Elon Musk doesn't give a fuck about free speech. He just wants to be racist and misogynist out loud and suffer no consequences.

"* unless he doesn't like what you say, and you draw an annual salary from him."

Fixed. Or should businessmen now be forced to retain employees they don't like?

Dude wasn't wrong. Elon Musk's alt-right activism is a distraction from his businesses. It's all gaslighting to distract from Tesla's collapsing share price and other mistakes.

Tesla has a P/E of around 90. The collapsing share price from speculators, yet somehow TSLA is still outperforming most of the S&P 500 on a relative basis. I'm amazed it's still above $300. Did +750% over the past 5 years, the last thing anyone needs to be think about is it "collapsing". More like a healthy correction.

The collapsing share price is from speculators*

People are trying to estimate what Tesla's market share will be when most cards sold in the US are electric in 2050. Some think they can maintain it at 70-80% like they are at right now which means they are worth a lot. Some think they haven't built much brand equity and that will collapse once the bigs like Toyota start producing EV's en masse instead of bribing Congress to slow down adoption.

And then there's other issues like supply bottlenecks that Tesla has a leg up on other companies on for now in terms of materials for batteries.

I had some shares of Tesla but tend to follow Bill Gate's investing and shorted the hell out of it, especially when Elon Musk started really committing to his political bullshit. All just a distraction from him trying to divest himself of crashing Tesla shares and replacing them with Twitter shares (ignore the theater, follow the money).

I was more on splitting the difference on what people expected from a future Tesla but now I'm leaning towards their market share being on the small side. Elon Musk alienating the yuppie progressive demographic that buys EV's is a fucking boneheaded move.

This isn't politics, it's just business.

"murder doesn't understand the difference between a workplace and a public forum, because he has never had a job?"

Nimatzo doesn't understand the difference between a public space and his neighbors yard. ;o)

Lol. Liberals are always so short sighted. They read this headline and jump on the Elon musk hate train. Then more information comes out and it's literally musk/company firing activists who are vocally attacking their ceo and pressuring other employees to join in their mutiny. And once again liberals are shown to be idiots who react immediately rather than wait for information to come out.

Assuming that any or all of that is true ... how does it change anything?

Oh murder... it changes the narrative entirely. The employees got fired for shit talking their ceo publicly and pressuring other employees to join them. They weren't fired for speaking out against musk.
...
I know you won't understand the nuance of this.
I will make it simple for you.
There is a difference between having free speech on an open platform designed for free speech and shit talking your company and it's ceo in a company forum.

Yes but Musk is a free speech absolutist. Or so he claims.

"and pressuring other employees to join them."

So? What are they, snowflakes? They can resist the pressure.

Twitter is not an open platform. They have banned me repeatedly. And it wasn't designed for free speech, it was designed to make money.

Rofl.

One you use Twitter

Two you don't know the difference between a third party platform and your companies direct message system.

Do you even work?

Obaminated is so reactionary and short-sighted, he rarely has a cogent argument in any of his posts. It's all mostly ad hominems at supposed groups that wronged him.

Sad, pathetic, lonely reactionary.

I refer back to Dukhats law...everything goes back gay stuff with cocks.

IIRC I brought this up to Nhill when he first started coming back around, that itnhad nothing specific to do with anything anyone posted specifically, with Dukhat it always leads there.

You try so hard to always pidgeonhole things into your pre-arrived conclusions.

How bout shut the fuck up, go learn something and absorb information.

And not the pathetic "dur, nhil taught me so much with his crypto rants, dur."

Take an actual class or something.

It'd help you out a lot. Brain rot from repetitive thoughts is a real thing and all the cuckservatives display it.

I have noticed that, he fantasizes about gay sex a lot. Even on his OsamaIsDaWorstPresid multi account he does it. He must really enjoy thinking about our dicks.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, per se. I wonder if his fictional wife is aware of his closeted obsession with cocks? I imagine she’s caught him by now. If not, let’s go ahead and write it into the storyline.

I posted a story about Colberts staff getting arrested for illegal entry at the house of reps.

Dukhats response "All the cuckservatives rubbing each other's dicks completely raw with blood and semen covering their calloused hands."

like wtf!
