Republicans want to move to Republican states, Democrats to Democratic ones. I definitely see this as a long term trend. Politics is only going to become ever more vitriolic, and it will become increasingly unbearable for people to live in localities that are fundamentally at odds with their beliefs. In other words, prepare for the Balkanized United States.
