The only reason he ever had success at the collegiate level was because he inherited a program that was about to breakout in a positive direction, and he just didn't get in the way. He has no clue how to recruit or build team culture. Dumb hire by Nebraska.

I mean, case in point, is his dumb decision to call the plays for the first few years. If you're the OC, who's coaching? Don't bring up successful examples in the NFL of bright young coaches. Even after all the big time programs eat, there's plenty of talent left over to field a good 2nd tier college team. More than one really. Things are a little different in Nebraska. Also Nebraska doesn't get to play an American Athletic Conference schedule. The Cornhuskers are going to have to forget what everyone else is doing and build their team to play a style that fits the talent that is readily available to them. That probably means going back to a run heavy offense.

They should have a bowl game each year with their recruiting classes.

Not a single one since. Pretty obvious where the problem is and it has nothing to do with talent.
