NYC drug users could get money for returning used needles under new proposal

There is a logic to it.

It doesn't sound that crazy.

1. Better than having dirty needles all over the place.

2. Probably leads to lower use of dirty needles which will soread diseases and such.

It could very well get abused by going from places that give out free needles and going to turn them in too though.

Diabetics could cash in.

Sure there's a logic behind it.

There's also a logic to just putting their asses on the next bus to Portland. Or throwing them into an institution.

I would much rather have junkie-free streets, not streets teeming with junkies with a recycling ethic.

I don't believe SA or Rugian read the article.

Oh I read it. And by all means, if you want we can discuss the wisdom of state-sanctioned clinics for addicts to get high at.

But guess where those people are going immediately after getting their fix? That's right, back to the street.

"But guess where those people are going immediately after getting their fix? That's right, back to the street."

There's a solution for that, but if you have a problem with giving junkies .20 per needle, I don't think you're going to like it.

They can get .20 per needle and still die without leaving them laying around all over the place.

NYC has plenty of terrible ideas, this in theory sounds less terrible than most.

I think they would do better to widen the group, but I understand why they are limiting it and actually for a pilot episode its probably better.

Ive long liked many European recycle plans where you pay an extra 10 cents per bottle and get that back when you recycle it.

Similar principle, now look how clean their cities are.

Fair point. 45 ACP ammo does cost more like 40 cents per round.

Am I doing this right murder?

"Pilot episode", because of course we live in the Truman show.

I meant program.

Now, California is mulling an idea to pay people $1,000 to not own a car.

Walk to the bus plebs!

Much dumber policy.

"Am I doing this right murder?"

I don't know. I only obsess over killing shitty people. Sick, weak, and broken people, are someone else's department.

"Now, California is mulling an idea to pay people $1,000 to not own a car."

That's more of a handout. I don't think anyone is giving up their car for $1,000. That won't even pay for bus fare.
