The only thing that could top Donald Trump getting one sad vote yesterday would be for someone to nominate Mike Pence and for him to get two votes ... just to drive Trump insane. :o)

These former holdouts soldout to McCarthy today ...

Dan Bishop of North Carolina
Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma
Michael Cloud of Texas
Andrew Clyde of Georgia
Byron Donalds of Florida

That's the list so far. We'll see if it gets any longer. But even if it doesn't those votes being flipped will guarantee that McCarthy's support holds out for at least a few more days.

The only GOP holdouts left are ...

Andy Biggs of Arizona
Lauren Boebert of Colorado
Elijah Crane of Arizona
Matt Gaetz of Florida
Bob Good of Virginia
Andy Harris of Maryland
Matthew Rosendale of Montana

Everyone else flipped. McCarthy still doesn't have enough votes.

Here are the 14 Republicans who switched their votes to Kevin McCarthy in this latest round of voting:

Dan Bishop of North Carolina
Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma
Michael Cloud of Texas
Andrew Clyde of Georgia
Byron Donalds of Florida
Anna Paulina Luna of Florida
Mary Miller of Illinois
Ralph Norman of South Carolina
Scott Perry of Pennsylvania
Chip Roy of Texas
Keith Self of Texas
Victoria Spartz of Indiana
Paul Gosar of Arizona
Andy Ogles of Tennessee

McCarthy is still four votes shy of the majority he needs to win the speakership, but these flipped Republicans represents a significant break in his favour.

Looks like politics as usual will win out. How funny that McCarthy is only going to be speaker because he has lived in the swamp long enough. Not because he garners popular support or has any notable accomplishments.

"The 15th and final vote for House speaker gave McCarthy 216 votes, a bare majority that was lower than the normal 218 votes needed because all six of his remaining GOP opponents relented and voted "present." Reps.-elect Andy Biggs of Arizona, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Elijah Crane of Arizona, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Bob Good of Virginia and Matt Rosendale of Montana voted "present" in the final round."

Fucking cowards. I understand they all wanted to cut in line and get chairs on prominent committees usually reserved for members with more experience. Choosing not to participate is pure cowardice. Vote yes or no like you have some principles. Voting present is the same as just going to lunch while the vote is cast.
That said they should have never started this little futile protest. It served no purpose other than to allow Democrats to fund raise. Hell a good chunk of those throwing this little tantrum would have lost their seat if McConnell hadn't stepped in and helped.

"That said they should have never started this little futile protest."

It was only futile because they caved. They could have sunk him, but they bitched out.

The $21 TRILLION that the federal government spent in the last three fiscal years isn't enough money for you Dukhat?

Fucking moron. You and your fellow Keynesian retards have been completely discredited.

Cap and slash government spending, get rid of pork and fire a couple hundred thousand federal workers. Drain the swamp.

The rate was way higher under Trump than it was under Biden and Biden at least got the money he did spend to use on strategic purposes like infrastructure unlike Trump's idiotic double handouts to the rich (first covid bill was pure shit, free money to "business owners" instead of proven policies like paid leave for sick workers).

And the rate has already slowed dramatically.

I'll take my chances with moderate Republicans and Dems.

The far-right Trumpkins will only bring bad-faith arguments and poison pills.

Are we out of the Biden recession yet? When did that end?

223,000 jobs last month. Lowest employment rate in a generation. Inflation has also been down to under 3% for the last few months too (month-to-month, not annualized which shows 8%).

We may still have a recession coming soon but we haven't been in a recession despite what some out-of-context nuggets of information on Fox News may have told you.

We don't need term limits. We keep voting for these asses so it is our own fault. Term limits also limit who we can vote for and we shouldn't want that.
He promised to bring up term limits for a vote. No chance in hell it passes.

A lack of term limits encourages voters to elect the same people over and over again because the longer that Representative or Senator stays in office, the more powerful they get, and who the fuck wants to trade a powerful Representative or Senator for a weak junior Representative or Senator?

The more powerful they are relative to their colleagues, the more they can influence policy in ways that directly benefit your state or district, and the more bacon they can bring home.

A lack of term limits essentially leaves voters choosing between reelecting a corrupt Representative or Senator, or screwing themselves and their states and their districts.

I found a mother jones article that cited CNN as their source for this list, take that as you will, most seem super reasonable even tonleft wingers.

Any member can call for a motion to vacate the speaker’s chair

A McCarthy-aligned super-PAC (the Congressional Leadership Fund) agreed to not spend in open Republican primaries in safe seats

The House will hold votes on key conservative bills, including a balanced budget amendment, congressional term limits, and border security

Efforts to raise the nation’s debt ceiling must be paired with spending cuts

Move 12 appropriations bills individually, instead of passing separate bills to fund government operations

More Freedom Caucus representation on committees, including the influential House Rules Committee

Cap discretionary spending at fiscal year 2022 levels, which would amount to lower levels for defense and domestic programs

**72 hours to review bills before they come to floor**

Give members the ability to offer more amendments on the House floor
Create an investigative committee to probe the “weaponization” of the federal government

Restore the Holman rule, which can be used to reduce the salary of government officials

** Those damn Facisists want 72 hours to read bills before they vote on them, this will destroy democracy.

And Donaldson is appointed to the GOP steering committee. Which basically is the committee that appoints ppl to house committees.

So fucking worth it! and this ladies and gentleman, this is an example of how a representative government is supposed to function.

Using your vote to get real changes you want.

Now Trumpian ppl will get more say on more commutees. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Trump played a role.

Gaetz's description seems accurate that the speaker is now a majority vessel VS the iron fisted approach of Nancy Pelosi.

Many of these concessions are beneficial regardless of who is in power.

The ability to limit addons to bills and just vote for individual items.

That seems really good.

Term limits have achieved shit. it's not evidence-based policy. Just something dumbasses like Foreskin like to latch onto.

All they've done is make lobbyists more powerful in practice.

Pelosi was the most authoritarian speaker as she consolidated power in the position.

This democratizing of the position is so rare in politics to see government go away from authoritarianism.

These concessions are really huge victories for all non authoritarians.

It also strips McCarthy of the power to make a deal with Biden to push forth legislation.

It reminds me of a story my father told me as a child, he said bosses were assholes going as far back as early man.

In the beginning the body parts all wanted to be the boss.

The brain said "I do all the thinking for man, I should be the boss"

The eyes said "I let man see the world around him, I should be the boss"

The stomach chimed in saying "I digest man's food to give him energy, I should be the boss"

The legs argued "I take man where he needs to go, I should be the boss"

And then the assholes spoke up "I think I'd like to be the boss"

And with that the other organs all laughed and mocked the asshole, this angered the assholes and closed up put of spite.

The brain grew foggy and could not think.

The eyes were crossed and watered up and could not see.

The stomach churned in pain and the legs wobbled and grew weak.

Finally they all caved and appointed the asshole the boss.

And from that day forth it was known that alone you need to be the boss is to be an assholes.

#BeAnAsshole

Murder hates how this worked out.

I also vividly remember 2 poems my dad taught me when I was little.

There once was a man with so much class that his balls were made out of brass, when he clanged them together they played stormy weather and blew thunderbolt out his ass.

-----
When I'm in a working mood, I worry work and think.

When I'm in a drinking mood I gamble play and drink.

And when my time is over, and my time has come to pass, I hope they bury me upside down so the world can kiss my ass.

------
Correction 3*

People who write on shithouse walls

Roll their shit into little balls.

The people who read these words of with, eat those little balls of shit.

Retard. We didn't have them in place long enough to have anything evidence-based.
