Somebody in Maine is waking up amongst a bunch of hookers and cocaine. #MegaMillions

============================

They didn't identify the winner by name, but there can't be more than what ... maybe 100 people in the whole state?

So I'm just going to assume it was patom. :o)

Furthermore I'd like to point out that he hasn't denied it. What more proof do you need?

Statistically speaking, there's an 85% chance that he at least knows the person who won (the other 15% is for if one of the Somalis in Portland got it).

In any case, the Maine legislature is absolutely ecstatic that their expected tax revenue for the year just got quadrupled.

That's like an extra $31 million for the state of Maine assuming the winner takes the cash option.

New lobster traps for everyone! :o)

I bought 10 tickets. Still a better bet than crypto the last year.

Not like Cuckhat needs, what, $400mil lump-sum after taxes to add to his billion?

I would never take the lump-sum. Only fucking morons would do that. You get more from trading rights to the annuity with any bank. Restructure it to avoid as much taxes as I can and figure out what investment markets have higher returns and can absorb the volume of trades I'd be putting into them on an annual base.

Anyways, anyone that can do math realizes the chance of winning is miniscule. It's a donation to the education system of your state with some remote chance of winning some money.

Dukhat, when you reach my age you don't really have a lot of hope that you'll live another 29 years.

Therefore I will take the lump sum and go buy a new set of shoe laces and a spark plug for my mower.

Yes, but is there a difference between a 707.9 million lumpsum or the 46.5 million you'd get each year from taking the annuity?

I'd max the money and donate most of it to the charities I like anyways so maximizing the value is important to me.

Actually the lump sum would've been ~ $439 million before state taxes ... and if you took the annual payout the first year you'd have gotten ~ $15 million.

Anyway congrats to patom.

If anyone is headed to Maine to pitch him on a great business opportunity, he'll be the one with new laces. ;o)

Patom

I am seeking to start up a charitable institution. It mostly involves touring Eastern Europe and mentoring college-age Slavic women in practical skills that will help them get ahead in life.

If you wouldn't mind giving a small donation of $10 million to fund start-up costs, I would be very grateful.

The time-value of the 661.4 million lol

Nobody here has anything they can enjoy that requires even a million dollars a year much less 46.5 million. You might need like 10 million upfront to buy a few houses and hire a chef and maid, maybe even 20 million. But after that it would only be a couple of million a year for maintenance.

The annuity makes sense for most of you morons anyways. You’d probably Allen Iverson yourselves if you took the lump sum.

What about your family and your friends?

Putting 300 million in the index in 2023 is gonna net you more than putting 23 million in the index every year for 29 years starting in 2023 lol

(random 50% to account for taxes and random addition to your whores and cocaine account)

Handing out money to friends and family is how you fucking get them killed or turn them into junkies or worse. Stupid people with money ruin their own lives and those around them.

Yes the S&P would double your money on average in about 8 years assuming you reinvested everything. But it all depends on how everything is treated under the tax code and index returns can be volatile in the short term.

The point is the lump-sum is a ripoff. A bank will give you more in real terms if you trade the annuity,

Whether its another lump sum or a different structure,

Always take the lump sum. You can get hit by a car or die of cancer long before the 30 years is up.

How would handing them money be any different than the lottery handing you money?

In fairness, patom doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would go crazy with hookers and cocaine just because he won a ton of money.

Not on day 1. But after a while, when he grows accustomed to having infinite wealth? Why not hire a top of the line Russian hooker? Why not try some Colombian snow? Only live once and it isn't like he can't buy his way out of any trouble he lands in.
