Started rewatching this show. What a mistake it was for hbo to cancel this show. The show came out too soon. If they could've waited 5 more years or so they would've been able to use modern technology to properly portray the scope of the battles and the world. Still. Even without the spectacle the show is very entertaining.

I would've loved to have seen the next 3 seasons which would've expanded on the war between octavian and Mark Antony as well as the rise of Jesus.

In capitalism, you have to make money. The show cost more than it made so it was cancelled.

You communist cuck.

Comment shows are terri1boe knock offs of capitalist movies.

Rome's mistake was jumping ahead, they ended up putting 2-3 seasons worth of story in season 2 yo cut costs.

Fantastic series though. Definitely worth re doing in the post game of thrones era.

They pushed the story because they knew they were being canceled. Yeah the show got canceled because at the time it was released cgi in general was far more expensive than it would be a few years later. This is why GoT was able to do movie quality episodes at roughly the same price.

Also it is pretty amusing to see the stark difference in how male characters were written 20ish years ago vs how they are written now. Strong, smart and capable men leading a series without a female character constantly outsmarting them? Who would've thought such a thing would ever be written?

"In capitalism, you have to make money. The show cost more than it made so it was cancelled."

Does this mean that Soy-Cuck recognizes that "Stakeholder capitalism" — which subsidizes money-hemorrhaging propaganda simply because that propaganda is useful to the regime — is not capitalism?

Rome had definite value. I especially like that they portrayed Mark Antony as drug-captured rather than Cleopatra being some kind of magical seducer.

And this scene..
"He was a Consul of ROME!"

I dont feel it was cancelled. The return home to die was nicely paced.

It was canceled. That's why we go from mark Antony just arriving in alexandria at the end of episode 8 to about a 5 year time jump to find Antony a drug addled loser and octavian is dealing with a severe grain shortage.

The last 2 episodes are basically the outline of what season 4 was supposed to be.

A nice roll-up then. I enjoyed the series at the time (I bought both seasons in boxes if you can imagine that).

I'm grateful for the series we got. Strong characters, an immersive depiction of ancient Rome, and good storylines. The showrunners were aware of their mature audience and trusted them to handle mature subjects, such as depicting good guys who owned slaves and had tumultuous relationships with their wives.

Yes, if they had waited a few years for technology to improve the show could have had some awesome CGI battle scenes. Unfortunately that would also mean that the show would likely become a woke shitfest, focusing on Niobe's and Eirene's stunning and brave attempts to overthrow the patriarchy and become Rome's first lesbian ruling couple. Pullo and Vorenus would all be limp-wristed domestic abusers who ultimately get their asses kicked by their wives in a 2 vs. 2 fistfight. Also all of the protagonists would be portrayed by black actors.

I really miss the 1990s-2000s.

Rome was great. Rugian is right, any later and it'd have been a woke shit fest.

I don't think Niobe or eirene would have big wins over vorenus or pullo beyond vorenus and pullo being berated for having the opinions and beliefs the average Roman soldier circa 50 bc would have. But 100 percent cleopatra would have a much larger role and would have outsmarted octavian a few times before she is finally defeated, likely by her own doing (ambition/hubris/etc).

Obaminated, I have to disagree, I think they would have just entirely changed history and had Cleopatra win or something along those lines.

Exhibit A is when they had that female african tribe fight off the Imperialist western Europeans.

Completely ignoring the fact that in reality that tribe lost and that they were a tribe that owned and promoted the use of slaves, primarily African.

"He was a consul of ROME' 10/10 scene"

It really was. I try to squeeze this reference in randomly in posts from time to time.
