Then the ATF steps in with some unconstitutional rule where a pistol that looks badass is "illegal", making criminals out of millions of Americans. Meanwhile, preliminary reports seem to show that it was some kind of old Cobray pistol (M11/9; a 9mm pistol) that's somewhat in the shape of the MAC-11 machine pistol and is between the pistol and SMG family. So this was basically an off-brand "couldn't get the real deal in the '90s" relic that jams constantly, has awful recoil, and attempted to make up for its machining failures by making as few bends and weld-marks as possible. You can 3D-print better weapons than this.
