Is anyone on UP seriously contesting the assertion that body dysmorphia, a fringe medical condition that only a tiny minority of the population legitimately suffers from, gets wildly disproportionate attention in the public sphere?

No one is saying that mentally ill people who view themselves as a different gender shouldn't be able to seek medical help, or be the subject of our sympathies.

What we are saying is that the press and our national institutions shouldn't be spending an inordinate amount of time pushing transgenderism into every sphere of public life. We shouldn't be pushing it on children in schools, we shouldn't be glorifying it as a lifestyle choice (it's a literal MENTAL ILLNESS after all), and we shouldn't be calling everyone who opposes having men in womens' bathrooms, sports teams, and prisons a bigot.

But by all means, disagree with me murder. Tell us all about how opposing transgenderism as a fad is on par with the Holocaust. I could use a good laugh.

What kind of insane person would think that it's a good idea to celebrate and encourage the spread of a mental illness among children as young as 5?
