Jan. 6 footage shows Capitol cops escorting QAnon Shaman to Senate floor

By Miranda Devine

Newly revealed surveillance footage from Jan. 6, 2021, shows two Capitol Police officers escorting Jacob Chansley, the behorned so-called “QAnon Shaman” who has come to symbolize the riot, through the halls of the Capitol and to the very door of the US Senate.

The footage aired on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show Monday night shows the officers closely following Chansley as he wanders the corridors of the Capitol, bare-chested and wearing face paint and a luxuriant fur hat with Viking horns.

“Virtually every moment of his time inside the Capitol was caught on tape,” says Carlson, who was granted exclusive access by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to 40,000 hours of surveillance footage from that day inside and around the Capitol, which has never been seen before by the public.

“The tapes show the Capitol Police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him. They acted as his tour guides.”

At one point, the officers are seen walking Chansley past seven other police officers milling around outside the Senate chamber, who barely give him a second look.

Then they escort him to various entrances of the chamber that appear to be locked. Eventually, they help him open a door, and he enters the chamber.

Chansley, a 33-year-old Navy veteran from Arizona, has been jailed for almost four years for “obstructing an official proceeding.”

In a jailhouse interview played by Carlson, he says: “The one very serious regret that I have [is] believing that when we were waved in by police officers, that it was acceptable.”

What a surprise, all of the J6 coverage over the last two years has been total bullshit.

Amazing how Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger managed to hide this aspect of the riot in their pompous "investigative" committee...aka star chamber.

We already knew that law enforcement is generally somewhere between "neutral" to "supportive" of right wing insanity, so this is 100% consistent with that.

We already know that the cops could have stopped their ideological compatriots.

There were mixed messages all over the place, so yes it was messy (and some cops that genuinely love their country and it's constitution got hurt) ("Capitol riot: Trump supporters shown beating Officer with ‘Blue Lives Matter’ flag"), but by and large it's hard to imagine these idiots doing what they did without some degree of complicity of the local law enforcement.

So whatever "Aha!" revelation that you might think this is... it isn't.

It's consistent, more than anything.

I kind of agree with Earthpig, did anyone expect the Jan 6 committee to show a complete and true accounting of events?

Or just show what fit their narrative?

It was clear it was an over the top hack job from the begining.

Tucker will do basically the same, he will be more moderate in his claims because the other videos are out, such as admitting some ppl acted poorly.

It was a protest that got messy. Thats it.

The only person Who died was an innocent white female veteran was murdered by a racially motivated cop.

"don't see the half naked horned fellah in your image there murder."

I was responding to the bullshit in the post immediately preceding mine.

as OP article actually got right, he was convicted of "obstructing an official proceeding"... (but the only reason to write "almost 4 years" is to be deliberately misleading as was closer to 3 years... plus he pleaded guilty to it, so guess he should've gotten a better lawyer if unfair)

storming the capitol obstructed an official proceeding (& was the purpose of storming it... "stop the steal")

so even on the ~0% chance that Tucker gave an accurate portrayal of this guy's story once inside, it changes nothing... & no one ever claimed he was the kingpin leader of the storming or violence, so has no bearing on anyone or anything else

Chansley got 4 years in prison for a non-violent, police-escorted tour!?

Dave Chapelle was violently assaulted on stage by a guy with a knife. That guy got a $3000 fine & no prison time.

Antifa militants assaulted numerous federal agents and police officers in Portland for over 100 nights at the federal courthouse, inflicting numerous injuries -- some permanent. Very few of them were charged, and even fewer of them got any time at all.

This guy spent nearly a year in solitary confinement, until he was pressured into taking a plea deal by federal officials who had a vested interest in buttfucking him. The shitbag judge who bought into the "insurrection" nonsense wouldn't let him out on bail, and by the time of his plea he was medically diagnosed as being severely mentally ill as a result of his treatment.

Dude is a political prisoner, not a criminal.

Tucker's shit video misses the only relevant part: how he got in

if he had -no- involvement in the breach, yeah, his 3.4 years seems a bit much

the police inside backing off once overwhelmed plus the congressmen evacuated establishes nothing relevant to his crimes (or most others)

a criminal who smashed a window to enter building (Pezzola) is citing Tucker's garbage as part of his defense, here's the prosecutor response which includes them pointing out how Tucker's garbage was in fact (incredibly predictable) garbage:

http://sto....uscourts.dcd.241009.689.0.pdf

Tucker did NOT cover all of the shaman's time in the Capitol as Tucker (almost certainly intentionally) lied about... showing 4 mins of his late time, skipping nearly an hour of prior footage... snippet:

"
Pezzola’s argument seems to be that the snippets of Chansley’s movements that were televised by Carlson establish that there was no emergency necessitating the suspension of proceedings.
...

...Chansley piggybacking on Pezzola’s violent breach of the Capitol provides more than enough evidence of his corrupt intent to interfere with Congress that day. But there is much more evidence of his and others’ conduct. The televised footage shows Chansley’s movements only from approximately 2:56 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Prior to that time, Chansley had, amongst other acts, breached a police line at 2:09 p.m. with the mob, entered the Capitol less than one minute behind Pezzola during the initial breach of the building, and faced off with members of the U.S. Capitol Police for more than thirty minutes in front of the Senate Chamber doors while elected officials, including the Vice President of the United States, were fleeing from the chamber. Chansley then entered the Senate Gallery, where he proceeded to scream obscenities while other rioters rifled through the desks of U.S. Senators on the floor below. All these actions were captured by Senate floor and/or CCTV cameras. In sum, Chansley was not some passive, chaperoned observer of events for the roughly hour that he was unlawfully inside the Capitol. He was part of the initial breach of the building; he confronted law enforcement for roughly 30 minutes just outside the Senate Chamber...
"

so :
- shaman extremely guilty of "obstructing an official proceeding" (& Pezzola guilty of more)
- Tucker is total & complete garbage, proven yet again
- Kevin McCarthy should be removed from office for this extraordinarily predictable bullshit masquerade (he's still defending giving to known garbage Tucker & -only- known garbage Tucker for public transparency... ridiculous)

solid arguments

maybe 4 mins of late footage of the shaman proves he committed no crimes & thus by extension all others committed no crimes

the cops should be charged for assaulting the peaceful & respectful tourists as they peacefully & respectfully tried to enter... plus charge whomever put those pesky windows in their way
