The EU chief Ursula von der Leyen has visited the island now:

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have arrived on the island of Lampedusa, which saw 8,500 undocumented migrants land on its shores this week.

On their way from the airport to the migrant reception centre at Imbriacola, local people blocked the convoy, prompting a promise of action from the Italian premier.

"We are doing everything we can", said Italian PM Giorgia Meloni.

von der Leyen has already set up a ten-point action plan. It includes:

”we will increase our support to transfer migrants out of Lampedusa. We urge other Member States to use the Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism and transfer migrants out of Italy”

So far in 2023, more than 100k migrants has arrived in Italy. That’s twice as many as in 2022. And 2023 isn’t over yet.

If Ukraine really wants to become a member of the EU, I think they’ve got to prove it that they are ready for it. They need to show solidarity with EU and accept a couple of 100k migrants.

Ukraine is running out of men in fertil age so these migrants could help Ukraine, and it would help the rest of the EU as well. It’d be a win-win for everyone. They could settle in Ukraine, find an Ukrainian woman and start a family, and build up Ukraine again. Some might even be willing to join Nato’s Ukraine army and fight Russia.

For 4,000 years, ever since the Guti invaded the Akkadian Empire, the mass influx of an alien people into one's home territory has been universally understood to be an enemy invasion.

But now the American and European left would have us believe that it is the invaded people themselves who have erred, and that it is incumbent on them to coddle the invaders and accept them into their own homes.

It's insane.

Ukraine, Europe and USA could have next to an endless supply of manpower if EU or Nato shipped migrants from Africa to Ukraine. Ukraine would win and not a single American or European would have to die. Why hasn’t anyone in charge thought of this? It is like they want Russia to win.
