One more example of why right-to-work laws kick ass.

Hope nobody here was planning to buy a car anytime soon.

UAW's negotiation demands were absolutely insane.

- 40% wage increases over four years

- Restoration of defined-benefit pensions (what is this, 1963?)

- Job guarantees

- Cost of living adjustments

- 32-hour work weeks with overtime pay

By one industry estimate, the union's demands would add more than $80 BILLION to each auto-maker's labor costs over the next four years, from $65/hour per worker to more than $150/hour.

UAW seems to be banking on getting support from Biden and having the government bail out the automakers, because even if they get everything they want they will effectively price American cars out of the market.

"Record making profits means record making wage increases"

Sleepy Joe

UAW made incredible concessions over the last decade so these demands are reasonable.

This might actually bring back the middle class.

They make $65 per hour already. $150 per hour is $312,000.

They are overpaid at $65. 6 figures to work as hard as most of these dudes work is a joke. Their competitors will eat them for lunch.

Cuckhat is correct. 65 an hour is solid base pay for a high end blue collar job. That's more than 10k a month before taxes in addition to whatever other health and pension/401k/retirement packages they are offered.

120k a year is pretty good take home pay for any place not called southern California.

Ford made $158 billion in 2022
Gross profit $25.5 billion over 12 months ending June30 2023

Ford Motor annual gross profit for 2021 was $21.69B, a 50.71% increase from 2020.

They will be fine.

For comparison:

- Non-union workers at foreign manufactured earn an average of $55/hour (inclusive of benefits)

- Workers at Tesla make $45/hour

Sounds like Elon Musk might end up being the biggest winner of all from this.

In 2022

Ford CEO $21 million
GM CEO $29 million

Whose running a scam?

The UAW auto workers union was running a scam. They are averaging 130k a year in pension payouts indefinitely. Was that not clear in my post?

Your ok CEO making $20-$30 million/year and getting 40% pay increases but your outraged over average people getting similar pay increases.

The amount of money the CEOs make is irrelevant, as you are only talking about a single person. You could literally double the current pay of the CEO of Ford and it would only add $5.00 to the cost of each car sold.

What the other 171,999 employees at Ford make is far more relevant to the company's bottom line.

So I looked into the 40% pay increase you are talking about. Their base pay didn't increase. So that's a lie. They hit various milestones so they got bonuses. Some did anyways. Others didn't.

So, if you are asking me if i think an employee receiving bonuses based on performance achievements is a scam, id say no.

I think workers doing their job, demanding an extra day off, demanding 40% more pay and additional benefits and willing to go on strike until those demands are met are scam artists to the highest degree.

I believe pay should follow inflation and some base pay increases are warranted. But this shit is pure scam artistry.

CEO pay is very relevant cause senior and Jr management is based on it.

Also your stats are wrong

Full-time employees at the Big Three make on average $18 to $32 an hour, depending on seniority — wages that haven't kept up with inflation. Full-time workers also get profit-sharing checks and other bonuses.

The workers should get whatever they can just like everyone else does.
