Utopia Talk / Politics / NPR is in crisis

NPR just forced out a senior editor after he wrote a letter accusing the organization of being skewed to the far left, lacking ideological diversity or fairness, over-emphasizing the importance of race and gender identities among staff, and having *zero* registered Republican employees at the DC HQ (against 87 registered Democrats).

The new CEO of NPR is a 40 year old white lady who is apparently super woke (with a long history of making far-left & anti-Trump posts on social media) and thinks NPR is just perfect as it is.

NPR itself is completely unreadable and unlistenable garbage, the bias in their framing of stories and choosing which elements to include or exclude make their pieces sound more like DNC propaganda than actual news.

The organization recently threw a major temper tantrum and literally ragequit Twitter because that platform rightfully labeled them as government-funded media (apparently that label is appropriate only for the state media of enemy countries, not for our own).

When Trump wins this November, he absolutely should make it a point to defund this corrupt hellhole of a "news" outlet.

Some of the new CEO's more embarrassing tweets:

-----

Jul 30, 2020
Lots of jokes about leaving the US, and I get it. But as someone with cis white mobility privilege, I’m thinking I’m staying and investing in ridding ourselves of this spectre of tyranny.

Appalling to hear a CNN election night anchor say “no one expected Trump to do this” when literally every election night disinfo prep call with media network leadership gamed this scenario out.

I do wish Hillary wouldn't use the language of "boy and girl" - it's erasing language for non-binary people.

The best part of AZ GOTV is my Biden grandpa hat.

I mean, sure, looting is counterproductive. But it’s hard to be mad about protests not prioritizing the private property of a system of oppression founded on treating people’s ancestors as private property.

White silence is complicity. If you are white, today is the day to start a conversation in your community.

Also, Donald Trump is a racist.

I know that hysteric white woman voice. I was taught to do it. I’ve done it. It’s a disturbing recognition. While I don’t recall ever using it to deliberately expose another person to immediate physical harm on my own cognizance, it’s not impossible. That is whiteness.

She seems like a perfect fit to lead an "independent" news association.

The level of self shame based on her skin color is wild.

Uri Berliner wasn't fired or forced out. He quit because he's a snowflake and didn't like "being disparaged" ... all the while he disparaged others.

Just another "white man views himself as the victim" story.

Im better then you

Those tweets are pretty tame especially over a four year period.

That column about NPR being biased was some tech bro who wanted them to cover Hunter Biden more. That story had nothing to do with fucking anything. It was the same shit as hillary's emails.

One, the Hunter story was only a minor aspect of his complaint. In his 3,500-word essay, he used the words "Hunter" and "laptop" a grand total of six times. It was one example in a much larger list of grievances, not the main focus.

Two, what he does mention on that subject is how NPR reporters were exposing their partisan bias in refusing to report the story:

"The laptop was newsworthy. But the timeless journalistic instinct of following a hot story lead was being squelched. During a meeting with colleagues, I listened as one of NPR’s best and most fair-minded journalists said it was good we weren’t following the laptop story because it could help Trump. "

Three, it was an important story, exposing corruption and influence-trading on a massive level by the son of the next future president of the United States. How you can dismiss that as not worthy of reporting is beyond me.

Uri Berliner was covered partly in the "journalists" thread, btw:
("Tue Apr 09 11:53:50 NPR Journo Uri Berliner")
http://uto...hread=92750&time=1713195558257

And I wrote this about the new NPR apparatchik a couple days ago:
*light trumpet plays*
"NPR Quiet-Mic Voice: "This is 'All Things Considered'. I'm here with NPR's New Glorious Leader, Party Apparatchik Katherine Maher, who is here to sing the rightful praises of Our Benevolent Bolshevik Party as they liquidate the White rural voters to bolster Faith in Party as their property is redistributed to our more reliable client groups of the Global South. Praises be to the Party and to listeners like you, whose assets were seized for our public funding.""

It really is hilarious that despite their direction they're just going to double-down. Regime media really does not care how much credibility they've burned since they know that they still have useful idiots like tumblefag and murder whose Overton Window's have been so dominated by delusion that they really think that these enterprises are "objective" or "unbiased".

Institutional rot and permanent reputational damage is kind of a serious deal. Especially once you add in Republican efforts to defund (the mothership organization itself is only slightly dependent on government money, but the local affiliates would be absolutely fucked if they lost that support).

But if my memory serves, you're an NPR consumer yourself so of course you wouldn't have an issue with all of this. "Normal" news should be reported from an ideological bias so far to the left that it would make 60 hippies blush with embarrassment, right?

NPR has been trash for years.

They've literally been caught making up gake stories and even when all parties involved claimed publicly that it never happened, they doubled down, n with no evidence.

It's state run fake news.

Which is a shame.
