rank | Wed Jul 10 11:56:14 2024 I liked it. A lot of people were claiming "girl boss" woke issues, but that's not what director George Miller is doing. Furiosa isn't some resentful misandrist (characteristic of slave morality); the point of the Furiosa character is that she refuses enslavement, and she will not settle for anyone who accepts enslavement (e.g., Praetorian Jack). This makes her a female image of the West, since Western eugenics attempts to remove enslavement principles from all of its peoples. Miller seems to be setting her up to re-meet Mad Max as an Übermensch bonding, re-founding Western civilization in the Wasteland. |
