Overthrowing the US government would be a herculean effort that would require a full-scale purge of all government departments, war with the military and local police (who basically double as a paramilitary unit), clamping down on the dozen of state governments that would refuse to go along with your plan, and likely civil war as millions of Americans tell you to fuck off. In other words, it's basically impossible unless you have the full backing of senior civil and military leaders.

Sending a bunch of *unarmed* yahoos to storm the Capitol for a few hours was never going to result in the overthrow of the government. Let's say they managed to destroy the electoral ballots; too bad, there were multiple spare versions in the states. Let's say they managed to capture one or more congressman...and then what? Force them to vote against certification? Do you understand how idiotic that is? Democratic politicians would prefer getting raped to death over ever voting for the orange man.

Even in the impossible scenario that the rioters *somehow* managed to vote for slates of pro-Trump electors, it would clearly have been done under duress; Congress would immediately repudiate the results, the courts would immediately intervene, and riots and demonstrations would break out all across the country. It would *never* have been an enforceable decision.

January 6 was a riot, and it was a bad event for certain. But an overthrow of the government? Absolutely not.

Even in the impossible scenario that the rioters somehow managed to vote for slates of pro-Trump electors, it would clearly have been done under duress; Congress would immediately repudiate the results, the courts would immediately intervene, and riots and demonstrations would break out all across the country.
