"Nancy Pelosi's husband dumps $500k of Visa stock before massive DOJ lawsuit"

http://the...-massive-doj-lawsuit/10074223/

Totally a coincidence I'm sure.

For anyone out there looking to get rich quick, the Nancy Pelosi Stock Tracker allows you to comfortably outperform the market:

"Nancy Pelosi's Portfolio Returned Over 700% In a Decade: Copy Her Investment Strategy Here"

Being a corrupt POS has its upsides (unless you pull an Eric Adams and talk shit about the big guy in public...then it's federal indictments time)

This is pretty standard in Congress. It's the main reason why people arrive in Congress as members of the working class, and leave multimillionaires. But you can't really track their trades because they obviously don't report in real time.

It's unfair as hell, but it's slightly better than corruption where members affect outcomes in exchange for contributions.

Both should be illegal, but good luck getting the inmates to criminalize their own behavior.

Simple solution all members of Congress should put there savings in a blind trust. That's better than having some random guy break into your house and smash your spouse's head with a hammer.

Insider trading is ubiquitous among the elite not just politicians. If you were to keep score Republicans probably outnumber Democrats in this matter.

But this is more bullshit. Republican lies blaming Democrats for things that they do themselves in order to do an obscene amount of violence.

In other words, fuck you Rugian.

@Rugian:

You can disagree with the two point conversion in the NFL, and so can a coach, but it's silly to begrudge a coach for using the two point conversion in the NFL, while it is allowed.

You bet your ass I purchased a six figure amount of stock in a "failing" company in my then-"failing" industry in 2022, that's since doubled in value while paying out a 10% divvy (relative to my share purchase price) in the interim.

If you're calling for a ban on owning individual stocks while in congress, applicable to family members as well, along with more expansive restrictions, I'm here for it.

Otherwise, you're acting in bad faith with this thread.

"applicable to family members as well"

I keep seeing this idea and I keep wondering where people think that government would get the authority to tell a random person that their rights are restricted because some relative decided to run for office.

And what happens when the coach, who claims to hate the two-point conversion but runs it anyway, is also the NFL rulemaker who could get rid of the two-point conversion, but doesn't?

There's a reason why Pelosi in particular comes under the spotlight on this issue; she was the House Majority Leader for 8 years and Minority Leader for another 12, and she remains a power behind the thrones within the Democratic Party. If anyone was to pass a stock trading ban, it was her.

You wouldn't. You'd tell tell the elected representative that this is the price of maintaining their seat. Sort it out, or vacate your seat.

@rugian:

You vastly overstate how much I give a shit about Pelosi (I don't). The proposed stock trading ban is vastly more important than the particular clown that happens to be wearing the clown shoes on this particular day. There is absolutely zero cult of personality, of note, around Pelosi in the People's Republic of Berkeley and San Francisco, in the real world, in spite of whatever folksy anecdote you are about to share in response to this comment. She's locally regarded more as generic politician 33051 than she is regarded as the savior who can make communism great again.

But, yes, I understand that you care more about this or that cult of personality than you care about policy.

Give me the public referendum on individual stock trading, and I'll sign it.

Inclusive of if that hypothetical referendum is written by Mitch or Donny or, more than likely, whatever clown named Adolf you put in front of me.

The cult of personality gibberish isn't my thing, I'm not naming my next kid Kamala or putting silly bumper stickers on my car or believing that a reality tv star or local prosecutor is going to change the world...

What the actual hell?

We were talking about Nancy Pelosi because, as the leader of the Democratic House, she could have put a stock trading ban in place.

Then you come in with this unhinged rant about cults of personality (a topic which wasn't even on the table) and comparing Republicans tk Hitler. Your post is totally off the rails and completely fails to comprehend what we were talking about beforehand.

You seriously come across as insane dude.

You can't force an elected official to vacate their seat because their nephew refuses to quit trading shares.

The House and Senate would have to start booting members themselves.

earthpig ... lets say that you ran for office and got elected Senator for the state of California. Lets also say that I'm your nephew, and I decide that I'm going to day trade my way to wealth and an early retirement.

How are you going to go about convincing me to give up trading?

What if I don't even like you?
