Basically, the Onion's "purchase" was immediately shot down because they had no standing with their bid, since they claimed they had access to funds which they did not actually have immediately available. The judge didn't necessarily need that argument, though, because procedurally the auction failed to re-open the bidding process after receiving the Onion's offer (i.e., Jones' camp was not allowed to counter-bid). The judge did not find the bid manager malicious in this outcome, but the Onion's bid was rejected. Another party tried to place a separate bid after this ruling, but a future auction or re-do was denied. The judge ruled that the trustee who owns the InfoWars site (i.e., a person separate from Alex Jones) is protected by bankruptcy law and does not have to sell. The Sandy Hook families are trying to appeal to the trustee for a settlement since they no longer find an auction of the InfoWars site a viable option. An interested buyer is trying to ask the judge to re-examine his ruling, but this third party may have no standing. TLDR: williamthecoward got rekt. "rofl" |
