rank | Wed Dec 18 23:10:14 2024 At least in Russia! http://www...ee-cancer-vaccine-2025-2001432 The Russian Ministry of Health has announced that it has developed a vaccine against cancer that will be distributed to Russian patients for free from early 2025 According to TASS, the Russian state-owned news agency, Andrey Kaprin—the General Director of the Radiology Medical Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Health—recently announcement the development on Russian radio. The vaccine will apparently be used to treat cancer patients, rather than given to the general public to prevent cancer—and it will be personalized to each patient. The Director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow, Alexander Gintsburg, previously told TASS that the vaccine could suppress tumor growth and stop cancer from spreading. Newsweek has emailed the Russian Ministry of Health, the Russian National Medical Research Radiological Center and the Gamaleya National Research Center to confirm the announcement and clarify how the vaccine works. |

rank | Thu Dec 19 00:22:35 2024 A vaccine against cancer is about as meaningful as saying you have a vaccine against illness. Cancer is just so many many different things. We just classify it as one thing by one characteristic (uncontrolled cell division). |

rank | Thu Dec 19 08:30:28 2024 There is a range of abnormal behaviors that cancers share, beyond abnormal cell growth, like the loss of apoptosis. It is conceivable to create one cure to cure them all. Probably not a vaccine in the traditional sense, some gene therapy, I have no idea if something is lost in translation here, thought I doubt they have created a cure. Imagine if you could go in and reprogram the cell to once again have a division limit, which all cancers have lost. Then the problem would solve itself. |
