Not all jails are that great. There are a couple transition to parole facilities that are very nice and some that are modern, so also quite nice. And some of them are quite crappy, though not as bad as in the US.

And yet Norway has the lowest recividism in the world while the US has the highest in the world. Tts almost as if the method of systematized revenge is a really weak tool to combat crime

habebe, Norway is strongly supporting Ukraine. If you are willing to commit acts of sabotage in Norway until they catch you, then contact the next Russian embassy. You could earn much money that will be useful once you get out of a Norwegian prison again.

Its almost as if the US system is just performative Pontus Pilatus politics.
"Your holiness, the people are protesting against crime levels! What should we do?"
"Look, just take 50 of them out to the market square and electrocute them."
"Your holiness, we have followed your command. The levels are still the same but the people roared with delight at the performative act of revenge and shouted, finally someone is doing something!"

I think there are cellblocks in the US with a greater than the 2100 currently incarcerated in Norway.

Artisan jails are easier with small volume.

US jails and prisons have a double purpose. When we closed or greatly reduced the number of psychiatric hospitals and beds. Jails and Prisons became a dumping ground for the mentally ill who broke laws.
30% of those incarcerated in the US should be in a mental hospital.
