The Republican representative from Georgia, who is one of Donald Trump’s most outspoken supporters, questioned Sky News’s Martha Kelner about her nationality when Ms Kelner asked about the accidental leaking of Houthi attack plans in “Signalgate”. “We don’t give a crap about your opinion and your reporting. Why don’t you go back to your country?” Ms Taylor Greene said after finding out Ms Kelner was British. “You should care about your own borders. Let me tell you something, do you care about people from your country? “What about all the women that are raped by migrants… do you care?” It is not the first time this has happened. In June 2022, she told a British television journalist to “go back to your country” after being challenged over American gun laws. She became incensed by questions posed by Siobhan Kennedy, of Channel 4, during a press conference held by a group of Republicans hostile to the imposition of gun restrictions, which followed a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that killed 19 children and two adults. Ms Taylor Greene is one of the president’s most loyal supporters in the house of representatives. After first being elected in 2020, Ms Taylor Greene, 50, was sometimes referred to as the “QAnon candidate”. She has since risen in the Republican ranks and made chairman of the new department of government efficiency subcommittee. She repeatedly heckled Joe Biden when he was president and in February 2024, she insulted Lord Cameron over his Ukraine aid deal comments, telling him to “kiss my a--”. The former construction business owner raised $11.6 million (£9 million) for her re-election bid and has developed a large social media following. Her campaign featured a TV advert showing her shooting feral hogs from a helicopter with an assault rifle, and comparing them to Democrats. She has also appeared regularly at events with Mr Trump, introducing him to crowds. Most recently, her boyfriend, Maga-enthusiast reporter Brian Glenn, sparked a diplomatic row when he ridiculed Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, for not wearing a suit in the Oval Office. |
