Member | Thu Apr 10 19:59:11 US egg prices increase to record high, dashing hopes of cheap eggs by Easter U.S. egg prices increased again last month to reach a new record-high of $6.23 per dozen despite President Donald Trump’s predictions, a drop in wholesale prices and no egg farms having bird flu outbreaks. The increase reported Thursday in the Consumer Price Index means consumers and businesses that rely on eggs might not get much immediate relief. Demand for eggs is typically elevated until after Easter, which falls on April 20. Industry experts were expecting the index to reflect a drop in retail egg prices because wholesale egg prices fell significantly in March. University of Arkansas agricultural economist Jada Thompson said the wholesale prices did not start dropping until mid-March, so there may not have been enough time for the average price for the month to decline. And grocery stores may not have immediately passed on the lower prices. Read it here: http://apn...ded420e9f7c0a707277c9c63396a76 |

Member | Thu Apr 10 20:10:30 The price dropped for wholesale eggs in mid March but that wasn't soon enough to effect Easter. This is sort of like declaring victory in the middle of a game. Egg prices are going to go down. |

Member | Fri Apr 11 04:46:06 Prices are creeping down. Not because Trump is doing anything. As much as you Trump lickers give him credit for everything. He nor nobody else can breed laying hens beyond what Mother Nature will allow. As the flocks regenerate so will the supply grow. remember supply and demand??? |

Member | Tue Apr 15 16:12:24 During the end of Bidens reign of terror (on chickens) over 100 million chickens were killed with Avian Flu being the excuse. 17 million chickens died because of the flue. Several million chickens were ordered killed in states that had no flu outbreak. There was no reason those chickens should have been killed other than to disrupt the food supply. These chickens were killed after Trump won the election probably because Trump made egg prices an issue in the campaign. Chickens need to be between 110-140 days old before they start laying eggs. First few batches of eggs will be used to replenish chicken numbers. Realistically it would be around 160 days out before a significant increase in domestic egg supply is seen. Probably around 210-230 days for a almost full recovery. My eggs are farm fresh brought to my door by the guy that has the chickens and cost three dollars a dozen. He might charge other people more? |

Member | Tue Apr 15 16:20:56 lol, youre confusing the plot from a C movie thriller with the real world. We've all had to do massive chicken kills in relation to avian flu, including France. |

Member | Tue Apr 15 16:26:24 Your current awful egg prices shouldnt be pinned on Trump, afaik; what he gets flak for is his lies about egg prices "U.S. egg prices hit record high despite Trump's claim they're 'much cheaper'" http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/egg-prices-trump-1.7506739 |

Member | Tue Apr 15 16:29:43 As well as the fact that the US has no friends left willing to help them out after the US knifed them all in the back and have all said thanks for the invite but no thanks. |

Member | Tue Apr 15 17:34:15 I realize flocks were killed because of the Avian Flu around the world. In the US large flocks were killed in states that didn't have even a single case. The US is a large chunk of land. Parts of the country were not infected but the Biden team made them slaughter large numbers of chickens anyway. The people behind the scenes did all kinds of shit before Biden left office to try and undermine Trump. |

Member | Tue Apr 15 17:39:15 Oh for gods sake, the C movie plot shit is off the walls. Nobody would have come up with the idea of "lets destroy Trump by making eggs expensive" |
williamthebastard
Member | Tue Apr 15 17:41:46 and if you'd mentioned avian flu to Biden after 4 pm in the afternoon he would have said, scandinavian poo? Whats that? |

Member | Tue Apr 15 17:47:04 Trump could have subsidized egg producers the same way it subsidizes meat producers etc in a heartbeat if he had wanted to, which anybody with the dastardly masterplan to destroy Trump by making eggs expensive would have thought of as making their secret egg conspiracy idiotic |

Member | Tue Apr 15 17:53:18 The US’s largest egg producer has reported soaring profits as consumer prices hit record highs thanks to avian flu – and alleged price-fixing which is being investigated by the Department of Justice. Cal-Maine’s profits more than tripled compared with the same quarter last year – and are nearly eight times as high as at the start of the bird flu outbreak in February 2022, according to financial results published on Tuesday. Major egg corporations such as Cal-Maine may be using the avian flu as a pretext to hike up prices. Days later, the Trump administration opened an investigation into price-fixing by the nation’s largest egg corporations, including Cal-Maine. A recent FWW investigation shared exclusively with the Guardian, The Economic Cost of Food Monopolies: The Rotten Egg Oligarchy, details how Cal-Maine has used the bird flu crisis to reap profits by increasing consumer prices. Cal-Maine did not experience any bird flu outbreaks in its flocks in its 2023 fiscal year – and actually sold more eggs in 2023 than in the previous two years. http://www...-prices-rise-cal-maine-profits |

Member | Tue Apr 15 17:58:09 The chips market in the USA is almost as big as the egg market. This is like thinking there was a secret conspiracy to topple Trump by making Pringles more expensive. Christ almighty |

Member | Wed Apr 16 10:33:29 Anyway, time to make a french omelette, I think, now that Ive finally mastered the art after years of failing. 3 yolks, throw away one of the whites since theyre dirt cheap, and then keep the whole thing completely creamy and smooth on the lowest heat, and not let a single morsel get grainy the way eggs do once they pass a certain temperature |
