Crazy how old this stupid community is. So I understood death and how real it was. Flash forward a decade or so and my girlfriend hanged herself and I was the last one to talk to her. It wasn't the first time she threatened to harm herself and I always calmed her down so I assumed, after we ended the call that she would do what I said "drink a glass of water and go to sleep and we will have lunch tomorrow". She ended up hanging herself. That psychological trauma stayed with me for years. I wouldn't be able to sleep without drinking because my mind would race, literally race with ideas and scenarios and I couldn't stop them or the really bad images. I am known as a charismatic and calm guy but I would end up stuttering and stammering my words with clients in a meeting because I think deep down I was desperate to make sure I said what I needed to say. Prior to Joanne hanging herself I always saw suicide as something weak people did. After that I realized suicide isn't a spur of the moment decision. It takes weeks, months, years of being worn down and seeing no end in sight before you just say "im done". I played with the idea of killing myself over guilt for not being the man she needed me to be. It took my friends, my family and Christ to allow me to forgive myself and accept that .. well, I dunno, what to accept. I am still uncomfortable admitting I wasn't responsible for keeping her alive, that it was her responsibility. So for a mentally ill person like fagfish, who has harassed jergul and others to now focus on another poster who went through a very rough time pisses me off. Life hits you a lot, its up to you to get back up and make something of yourself.. which it seems pillz has.
