The IRGC warning said five complexes, two refineries, two petrochemical complexes, and a gas field in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have become now legitimate targets for Iranian retaliation. The IRGC urged citizens, residents, and workers in the vicinity of these facilities to evacuate immediately to protect their lives. The facilities named in the warning were SAMREF Refinery and Jubail Petrochemical Complex in Saudi Arabia, the Al‑Hosn Gas Field in the UAE and Al‑Mesaieed Holding and Petrochemical Complex, as well as Phases 1 and 2 of Ras Laffan Refinery in Qatar. Iran had warned since the start of the US-Israeli aggression on February 28 that any attack on its key energy installations would cross a major red line, promising retaliation against oil and gas sites in Persian Gulf countries that are linked to the United States. Authorities in the Iranian Oil Ministry said on Wednesday that US-Israeli airstrikes targeted parts of the refining installations in Asaluyeh, a coastal city that processes a bulk of the natural gas from South Pars, the world’s largest gas field, located on the maritime border between Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. The IRGC’s note added that the rulers of the Persian Gulf Arab states had ignored Iran’s warnings, persisting in “blind subservience” and making decisions that do not reflect the will of their peoples. “We have repeatedly warned your leaders against following this dangerous path and dragging their peoples into a major gamble with their fate,” the note said. “Therefore, they bear full responsibility for all consequences that will result from this course.”

Hrothgar rank	Thu Mar 19 07:35:42 There are enough very large oil producers now globally that loss of middle east energy production, while certainly not great for prices, won't cause complete crippling of the global economy. 150 is probably max at peak, and more like around 100-120 as all the other oil producers make up for the lost production at a higher expense. US, Russian, and Venezuelan oil sales especially stand to profit. But certainly a miserable situation for all directly involved in the Trump induced Iran fiasco. And I'm growing increasingly certain those suffering will expand to US troops being droned daily on Iran's shores.

Seb rank	Thu Mar 19 18:34:42 Rugian: Well no. Because oil and gas prices will rise domestically also, and you consume more oil and gas than you export. By definition the value-add for consuming energy is large and positive, so if cost of domestic energy spikes, then you'll consume less energy and produce less value than you would have done with cheap energy. Yes, they LNG folks will have a bumper few years, but then will suffer as customers switch to substitutes; but the US economy as a whole will still experience way more pain than can be compensated for by LNG being more profitable.
