Figure this didn't need it's own thread.

TBH, GWB had the best policy.

Basically, Cuba sends Dr's all over the world, makes money from this, but also holds their passports so that the Drs dont leave.

GWB had a program to offer them US citizenship.

Yeah Trump is trying to block poor countries from trading for Cuban medical aid.

He of course has no intentions of making up for their loss of care because he couldn't give less of a fuck if they all die.

Murder, I mean, they are literally using slave labor.

I just think it's a smarter (and moral) move to poach skilled doctors as immigrants.

Thu Mar 26 18:15:25

Trump doesn't give a fuck about slavery. Trump refuses to pay people for work they do for him all the time. The only thing Trump gives a fuck about is domination. He sees Cuba isolated and vulnerable, and that means its time to rape it.

Murder, I agree Trump isn't doing this for moral reasons.

My argument is no one involved gives a shit about morals.

I mean, this goes to the root problem with communism, its not in the best or self interest of the individual unless your a politician.

The argument they put out is that they invested in the person so they now owe it to the state for the rest of their life.

The bonuses they get are equivelant to shawshank redemption.

That is not communism. It is every system. Why are you a patriot who, if circumstances demanded, is expected to lay down his life for his country? Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.

Cuba has been under extreme pressure forever. The medical contract terms are a function of US sanctions.

"Why are you a patriot who, if circumstances demanded, is expected to lay down his life for his country?"

Such as the existential threat of North Vietnam.

"Failing to register for Selective Service is a federal felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and in fines. Practically, non-registration causes lifelong denial of federal student aid, federal job training, and most federal employment."

I should also note that we require kids to do "volunteer" work just to graduate from high school.

Jergul, Other systems allow a much greater degree of letting ppl pursue their own self interest.

Maybe not sanction the crap out of Cuba before jumping to a system analysis of merits and demerits?

Most Norwegian doctors are wage slaves of the State. We are not under decades of sanctions from the US, so choose to pay them relatively well.

Muslim countries suck. Just look at Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya or Gaza. They barely have any infrastructure at all and the building stock is in a horrible state. Why dont they keep things in better repair?

Trump on Russia supplying Cuba with oil:

"It's not going to have an impact. Cuba's finished. They have a bad regime. They have very bad and corrupt leadership and whether or not they get a boat of oil, it's not going to matter."

"A Norwegian medical Dr. Isn't pimped out by the state."

Because theyre not a dictatorship. Even when they were one of the most socialist countries the world has ever seen, they never came at all close to keeping doctors' passports, because thats not a communist doctrine but a dictatorship doctrine.
This is just American brainwashing.

All of the dictatorships in the ME are extreme conservative regimes and look at the freedoms the ban

"Pinochet was a right-wing authoritarian ruler, combining conservative politics with military dictatorship.

He was strongly anti-communist and came to power after overthrowing the leftist government of Salvador Allende
His regime promoted free-market economic policies influenced by neoliberal economists

Under Augusto Pinochet, citizens were sometimes allowed to leave Chile, but not freely or equally.

However, suspected dissidents could be denied passports or exit permission
Some exiles were not allowed to return, even if they wanted to"

And, of course, as mentioned, nationalism is as collectivist and anti-individualist as it gets, where youre expected to die a brutal death in a foreign country for the collective whenever required and to see the group symbol (the flag) as the most holy artefact.

Its not just American propaganda that makes Americans less aware of the world around them than the world around them is of them, however, e.g. re: the thread on social classes. Its a combination of propaganda and Ivory Tower Syndrome.

Did Pinochet force people to stay?

No, Pinochet generally did not prevent people from leaving Chile. In fact, his regime's approach was quite different from other authoritarian states.
During Pinochet's dictatorship (1973-1990):
Emigration was allowed: Many Chileans fled into exile to escape political persecution, and the regime typically permitted this. Hundreds of thousands left during his rule.
Active exile policy: The government sometimes formally exiled political opponents, forcing them to leave rather than keeping them trapped inside.
Return restrictions: While people could leave, many exiles were banned from returning to Chile. The regime maintained lists of people prohibited from re-entering the country.
This created a large Chilean diaspora, particularly in countries like Argentina, Mexico, Sweden, Canada, and Australia. The exiles included prominent political figures, intellectuals, artists, and ordinary citizens fleeing repression.
This contrasts with regimes like East Germany or Cuba that built walls and heavily restricted exit. Pinochet's strategy was more about eliminating domestic opposition - whether through disappearance, imprisonment, or allowing/forcing departure - rather than forcing people to remain.

williamthebastard

who seems unfamiliar with Marx, village idjit?

Marx never ever mentioned anything about not letting people leave or anything approaching that at all. Marx was an internationalist, in fact. The most famous communist anthem was The Internationale and the most famous communist slogan was "Workers of the world, unite!". Dictatorships have done that, not Marxism.

I had to pass exams on the writings of among other people Marx in university and you have never read a single paragraph on him, brainwashed bumpkin
