Has been here virtually the whole time (better part of a decade). Required to notify the state of a change of address, and check in every six months. Defense didn't contest, they just tried to give a sob story, and argue that this was a simple clerical oversight, to get the low end of the massive habitual offender range that we were given (3-30 years). State mandates 25% served before parole eligibility, so a 12-year sentence could pan out to three years, out in 2028 due to a year time served. I threw the upstanding gentleman a bone and immediately led the folks to scrap the fine. Then we settled on the max time. Had a couple holdouts, but convinced them that the state "move" was a clear evasion of mandated checkups. Looked him up after we left, he also has a pending trial for shooting two men. Obviously, we were not made aware of this as, pending. Immediate vindication.
