There is 1 active ship in the royal navy that has defeated an enemy warship in combat.

Name the ship.

The Victory is still commissioned if that is what you were thinking of.

The same would apply to the US navy incidentally. Only the Constitution has sunk anything of the active ships.

Jergul:

Surely some of the Iranian ships they hit were done by a missile from a surface combatant.

And you have that unarmed ship they sunk with a sub.

The US Constitution is basically a museum piece.

I think I toured it as a kid.

I also slept over on the USS Massachusetts and toured a submarine (seawolf? Idk I was like 8)

Anyway? Constitution literally fought in the war of 1812....

So, I did some digging.

There is no Navy currently with more than 1 active victorious vessel that is publicly known.

That publicly known is doing some heavy lifting as apparently most Navies do not publicly disclose what exact vessel did what.

I suspect the last surface combatant the royal navy took out would have been Belgrano by HMS conqueror, a Churchill class that went out of commission (but is still awaiting disposal) in 1990.

That holds the distinction of being the only kill of an armed surface combatant by a nuclear submarine.

The Americans will try to claim the sinking is IRIS Dena, but that was a unarmed vessel returning from exercises.

Not bad. HMS Victory is indeed correct and at the beginning of this year Constitution would also have been the only USN ship, but now a number have Iranian kills. There's even a chance our carrier sank their carrier but that could have been land based fighters.

"slept over on the USS Massachusetts"

That was the best part of Boston cub scouts. That fucking rocked.

While Massachusetts did defeat the Vichy French battleship Jean Bart in battle(not a very fair battle but they were Nazis so fuck em), Massachusetts is no longer technically active(though physically she is in a better state than Victory but less so than Constitution who occasionally comes out and sails under her own power).

Hell yeah, that was an awesome trip. The only reason to ever go to Fall River lol
